I really thought Waverly would be top ten since they beat #9 Jackson and #10 Athens, who basically have the same records as Waverly. Waverly actually has one less loss than Jackson. Tigers also beat Oak Hill twice, and 4 of Wavery’s 6 losses came to the 3 teams in the top 5. 3 of those losses coming at the hands of two teams with a combined record of 43-1.

Oh well, it’s the committee of one and he puts endless hours into seeing as many teams as he can and tries to be objective as possible. Can’t argue with the top 8 too much at this point.

I never doubted the committee. Wise choices all around. The teams in the top 8 are deserving. The 9-20 is full of teams with nice seasons but are not quite there yet. I think burg is deserving of the 2 spot but my head tells me they are glad they did not schedule Chillicothe.

Great job.

Great list, no ties ... everything good except an unqualified team sitting atop the rankings. lol

Surprised you don't have Morgan in the top 20 and Fort Frye in there somewhere.

Let Berne Union in! Let Berne Union in!

And all this may derive from my hatred for the purple.

Waverly is an awesome team. That is a good group of seniors that will be missed after this season. They may have been a little inconsistent early on (just a little... foul line and whatnot). But they are firing on all cylinders at the right time it would seem. I would guess that games like the minford game may have kept them down a little for pfloyd. I get it that everyone can have goofy games like that but maybe it made it harder for them to jump a few? I am sure they will do their thing in this tourney.

Serious question: why aren’t Berne Union and Amanda in the SE? You literally drive past them to get to schools that are in the SE. I mean, I get that Fort Frye is like 500 feet from Waterford, but at least it is across a creek...or river, whatever lol

The teams who ARE in petitioned to get in.

The surprising part is those who haven’t.

Fort Frye should have petitioned years ago to get in. If Waterford can be the SE District, so can Fort Frye (literally right across the road).

They have a pretty steady flow of athletes. I feel like they would have much more consistent tournament success if they were in the SE district.

PS - Good list pfloyd, I agree with your top 8 exactly as it is. The only thing I'd probably do is bump Fairfield Union up a few more spots. Nothing drastic, but they're playing good ball and have an excellent coaching staff. This point in the year they could compete with any team above them for 32 minutes, no doubt.

... I kept looking, trying to find them a path UP but FU went 5-4 in their last 9 games ... I looked at the teams in front of them as well ... I feel good where they ended up, couldn't justify jumping the teams in front of them ...

Totally understand, I could see the argument either way. You made a great list and I thank you for all you do for SEO hoops.

Here’s to hoping the tough schedule throughout the season will yield some good tournament results for Warren. 10th year in a row Warren has found its way into your Final Elite 8, having won no less than 14 games in any one year. As always keep up the good work Pfloyd, always great to read your recaps and rankings.
