Point Guards

Post by beaverlover »

All true basketball fans know how important the PG is this time of year,Evan Leist the one I see the most is excellent. Who are the area's other top PGs that some of us will get to see in the tournament?

Conley from FU plays about 2/3 point 1/3 off ball, he is a nice player!

The best "true points" I have seen all year are Williams from Athens and Wallis from Jackson. Leist has been around for 11 years so I know he is tough as well.

Williams may be the quickest kid I seen this year with the ball in his hand.

Is Tre playing the point for Waverly? I haven't seen them, but I figured him to be more off the ball.

I thought Remington was quicker and Penwell from McClain right there as well.

His grandpa is Chuck Johnson the Allstate guard for Peebles in 1973 and arguably the best player to put on an Indian uniform. Anyone who has matched up with Peebles this year knows well the abilities of Weston Browning. He plays every play,Defends with the best of them. He's had Double doubles in many games this year. Only 5'8" but regularly gets double digit rebounds, averages at 20 or so points per game including two games over 30 points this season, averages 7-10 assists per game, 80% free throws, very close to 1000 point in career, and is the only previous starter for the Indians. This Junior has regional experience, is double teamed ,played box and one against, and is well known by all coaches around the SEOPs. He would be my SHAC player of the year.

Caleb Bell of Logan. Probably one of the most underrated point guards around. Doesn't always fill up the stat sheet. But he's integral to what the Chiefs do. Handles the ball as well as anyone around, especially against all these central district guards. Is averaging 9.6 points per game, is an excellent 3-point shooter. And plays lock down defense on the perimeter.

Remington is not a point guard, but he guards the opposing teams point guard. Held least to 4 Wallis to 6 and I can’t remember how many Williams had the first game of the year but it wasn’t many. 2 of leists points and 3 of wallises was when Remington was taking a rare breather. For my money give me Browning from Peebles for a point guard with all around game. Robertson from Waverly will be the best in the area the next three years!

Evan Upthegrove Washington Court House

First game v McClain 20. Penwell 0.

Vs Waverly 16. Marquez 9 Remington 5

Second game vs Jackson. 25. Wallis 13.

Second game vs McClain 12. Penwell 4

Wallis got him first Game at Jackson.

I wouldn’t trade Evan for anyone. He also guards other teams best guard.
