Division IV Sectional @ Meigs

Below are the teams and records within this Sectional.

Trimble (6-0)
Waterford (6-2)
South Gallia (7-3)
Coal Grove (6-3)
Reedsville Eastern (5-3)
South Webster (5-5)
Southern (5-5)
Symmes Valley (2-10)
Federal Hocking (1-9)
Miller (0-10)

This definitely seems to be the stronger of the 2 D4 Sectionals. I could see the seedings going a variety of ways. If I had to predict today I'd go with:

1.) Coal Grove
2.) Trimble
3.) Waterford
4.) South Webster
5.) South Gallia
6.) Reedsville Eastern
7.) Southern
8.) Symmes Valley
9.) Federal Hocking
10.) Miller

Coal Grove and South Webster play the toughest two schedules by a large margin. If the TVC coaches wanted to, they could stick together and put Coal Grove and South Webster in the 4-5 game. I don't think that will happen, and I hope it doesn't happen, but it also wouldn't completely shock me.

If I had to rate all of the Division IV Southeast Ohio teams (assuming all are completely healthy come tournament time), I would rank them like this:

1.) Coal Grove
2.) South Webster
3.) New Boston
4.) Green
5.) Trimble
6.) Whiteoak
7.) Ironton St. Joe
8.) Waterford
9.) Peebles
10.) South Gallia
11.) Leesburg Fairfield
12.) Reedsville Eastern
13.) Southern
14.) Clay
15.) Symmes Valley
16.) Federal Hocking
17.) Manchester
18.) East
19.) Miller
20.) Notre Dame

There's a few I could move up and down a spot or two, but for the most part this is where I'd rank them.

TVC always sticks together. No Way Coal Grove gets the 1 seed.

A lot of basketball to be played before the draw, but agree with bbjunky that there definitely a plausible scenario where Coal Grove and Webster hit in the 4/5 game. Then winner of that game likely gets rewarded with a District-semi at Convo against New Boston! As already said though, still a lot of basketball to be played and sectional seeding hijinks seem to have cooled off past few years.*

Sg don’t have any big wins yet we had Trimble down but they came away with the win but personally I think sg had the better team.. Belpre and Waterford this week so that should tell the tale.. .. our boys are getting better and wolf is coaching them up .. hopefully they can come away with a top 3 seed in the sectional they definitely have the talent and coaching to do so

Coal Grove the 3 and South Webster the 6. Took care of it for the TVC right there.

It absolutely SHOULD be, I 100% agree with you. However, this sectional traditionally doesn't take into account strength of schedule whatsoever. They typically seed based primarily off WIN/LOSS record and any ties the TVC coaches stick together to plan it as they want.

Plus no one plays a better schedule than Racine Southern's Hustlin' Purple Tornadoes. Honestly, I could see them as the two seed if they get hot down the stretch. Me and the boys at the butcher shop are workin out a plan to help them out.

I believe the number #1 gets 8vs9 winner to advance to convo and the 4 vs 5 will be a sectional final with winner playing the #1 from Northwest.

How I would predict seeding would go if seeding were today: (Reminder, seeding isn't until February 10th)

1.) Coal Grove
2.) Trimble
3.) South Gallia
4.) Waterford
5.) Eastern
6.) Southern
7.) South Webster
8.) Symmes Valley
9.) Federal Hocking
10.) Miller

I could see Southern making a little push. Several of the TVC schools still face each other so it could shake up a bit.

Gotta remember that the TVC teams are going to try and avoid Coal Grove and South Webster. I’d say CG would drop to the 2 and force them and SW to eliminate one another.

... and out of THAT grouping EVEN with the record - South Webster is NOT a #7 seed ... oh my - Coal Grove #1, South Webster #2 imo BUT I KNOW THAT THE RECORD IS EVERYTHING IN MOST CASES ...

I agree with you. But both teams need to win games to argue their case. It will be interesting but like I said, the TVC schools still have to face each other many more games so records are going to be much different when the draw comes.

After last night it would be near impossible to argue Coal Grove as anything other than the 1. Huge win on the road against a very good Ironton team.
