Has Meigs ever been D3 in boys basketball before this past season?
Yes they won a D3 sectional in 2013.
and in 2011...under Benny Ewing.

Very Odd that they Won Sectionals with Ewing and Kight, but never won a Sectional with a Coach that produced the most regular season wins in the last I don't know how many years. Thinkin Meigs was d2 in 2014, 20015, 2016 and 2017

That is odd. Just shows the major difference between the two. Of course they ran into teams like Warren and FU in D2. Thanks for the info.

Very happy to see Christian doing well at Eastern. Maybe he will win a district championship on the hill like his brother.

Before they did away with the Athens D3 sectional - and combined it with Jackson - it was fairly easy to win a sectional title. It was just a few TVC teams, plus Crooksville and Zane Trace and maybe another different team depending on the year.

That D3 Athens sectional was in a different stratosphere compared to D2 Logan.

Thanks he loves it there, that year was a great year. Christian won Semi Sectional, Cameron won Sectional, then Christian won Semi District and Cameron won District. Definitely proud moments.

Hopefully RV gives someone a chance to build something. That position has basically been a revolving door the last decade. Find a coach that loves the game & that the kids will play hard for & the wins will come.

Just hire the absolute best that applies and give him the keys for at least 3-5 years and give him a chance.

I'm guessing that was the initial plan with every coach hired at RV....and something always seems to happen.

I think the guy who coached Fed Hock last year applied. He did a pretty good job, imo.

Not always, especially when they hired Coach Jeremy Peck. They had a long-term guy in Coach Hill, but little Johnny's couldn't handle loose ball drills or being yelled at.

I get your point, but loose ball drills are pretty stupid IMO. There isn't a benefit in doing them. Kids get hurt/banged up for no reason. Kids aren't going to pass on going after balls in actual games because they didn't line up and hammer each other in a drill in practice IMO.

So they just hired Peck knowing he'd be fired soon after? That's pretty interesting.

I still think this can be a good job, they just need to find a guy who is truly wanting to establish something and do everything by the book on and off the floor.

I wasn't at the practices, but knowing Coach Jordan Hill, the intention of loose ball drills are not to beat around on kids, get them hurt, or bruised up, in fact, it is the exact opposite. The drills are intended to teach kids how to attack a loose ball and recover it in a way that protects them from an opponent. Lastly, those drills are designed to teach kids how to recover a loose ball while having teammates call for the ball and hopefully create fast break points from the hustle play.

You know what they say about those SG coaches. "Proven winners, kids run through brick walls, players lifting trucks in their weight room..." Remember when Jesty was going to save the VC football program? We all saw how that ended, but those SG guys just keep getting jobs. Can't beat'em.

Not Jason Peck. He was the right hire. And one of his former guys just lifted over 1,800 lbs. total for Autism Awareness.

Is he autistic? Not really sure how that would raise awareness for autism if not. Pretty cool, just I have no idea how some of these things are raising awareness lol
