'86 is probably still the best Logan basketball team. Lost in the District final to Lancaster after Kerry York got injured. That was the Keith Myers/York/DJ Conrad etc. led team. I believe Logan had beaten Lancaster twice in the regular season. They finished 19-1 in the regular season I believe and played teams like Brookhaven and Columbus Wehrle.
Lancaster was in the SE District at that time.
Logan won the district for the only time in 1999-2000, beating Marietta in a one game sectional and then beating East Liverpool over in Steubenville in a one game District. There was a SE Sectional (Logan, Chilli, Marietta) and an East District (Zanesville, New Philly, Dover, and E Liverpool) I believe. The two sectional winners met in a one game district.
Logan lost in a Regional Semi to Hilliard Davidson at "The Barn." Davidson went on to win the region.
East Liverpool beat Logan the year before and went on to the state tournament.
Logan was top 5 in AAA poll that year in 86 as well. We played Brookhaven at home who at the time was the #2 team in the state and we won on a last second buzzer beater by Keith Myers. I would put them up with the 1999-2000 team as the two best teams in school history. Logan's only loss during the reg season in 1986 was a return trip to Brookhaven where they were defeated. Logan finished 22-2 that year.

The 1977-78 Hoopsters were pretty good as well. They had some tall boys and lost a very close game to Art Schlichter's Miami Trace team at the Convo.Great basketball game but would have really loved to see the football teams play that year.

Wow, heard Misty on the radio say they was scoreless in the second quarter. Better get tough when they come out the second half.
