62-61 with 12 seconds or so left. Lynchburg iced the game with foul shots. Final, Lynchburg 66- Peebles 61. Gordley scored his 1000 th point ,but; fouled out with a little over 2 minutes left in the game. Giordano fouled out with about 31 seconds left. Great game to watch.

What does cage scores mean? I've wondered for years.

Alexander won over River Valley 45-32. Basketball was set back a decade with this performance. Ugly basketball. But a win is a win.
Go Alex.

Fyi: a "cager" is a very old reference to a basketball player. In the "old days" (maybe pre World War 2?), fans were so enthusiastic shall we say, that a lot of the old gymnasiums installed literal cages to separate and keep the fans from the players and the playing floor. And, have read this also kept debris from flying out of the stands that was launched at officials, players, and coaches. Ahh, the good ole days...

That photo is an excellent example 4thgoal, and exactly what came to mind when trying to describe it. Looks to be circa 1920's/1930's. And we think fans can get a bit rowdy at times now...
