Good game tonight at FU ... a game that Fairfield Union NEEDED to play - one where they were taking on a senior laden opponent, an opponent who's MO is that they can light it up offensively, a game in which TEAM FU had to battle not only their opponent - BC - but the way the game was being called , a game in which the "go to" guys - Collin Woodside and Lucas Thompson - were sidelined with foul trouble ... a major question was answered tonight "What happens when the big guns are not on the floor for FU ? Where will the scoring come from ? " ... Tonight FU held there own when Woodside/Thompson were on the bench for the entire 2nd quarter - neither player saw the floor ... Woolshire/Miller/Price/Conley/Conrad/Ben Miller ALL held the lead - led on offense by Evan Conley with 13 first half points ... FU 25 BC 15 at the half ... the second half had Colin Woodside staying on the floor for 16 minutes while Lucas Thompson was straddled with 4 fouls (3 points) ... BC turned up the pressure and turned the Falcons over 12 times in the 2nd half ... even with the 12 TOs and 16 2nd half points from Griffin Dozer (20 for the game) the Bulldogs never took the lead from FU - drawing to within 2 points at 42-44 with 2:27 to play in the 4th only to have Hayden Price take a steal coast to coast to stretch the FU lead to 46-42 ... FU missed the front end of 3 bonus FTs in the 4th but held BC scoreless in the final 1:07 to get the "W" over that "team to the West"... Fairfield Union 46 Bloom Carroll 42 a final ...

... if there was a game that Coach Eversole's Falcons were going to lose it was this one - the officiating crew took over the first half and put Woodside/Thompson on the bench (35 fouls were whistled by this crew ... FU had no height left to battle Smith/Downs/Williams in the paint - but a great defensive effort by Brad Miller/Hayden Price/Evan Conley/Spencer Conrad/Ben Miller extended the lead in the 2nd quarter/held BC at bay in the 3rd & 4th when the Bulldogs upped the pressure and closed to within 2 points ... when Collin Woodside was able to get back on the court in the 2nd half he controlled the paint - he took a beating! but he held his own ... the offense was able to run through the paint - Woodside was able to get to the rack as well as dumping the ball back out to the perimeter finding Hayden Price twice for triples and Lucas Thompson once in that 3rd period of action ... I have to give game balls to Evan Conley ( handled pressure/ showed he will be another offensive weapon for opponents to have to respect) , Hayden Price (Hit timely triples in the 3rd and the BIG coast to coast transition bucket in the 4th) , along with Collin Woodside ( scored only 12 but that 12 was between muggings or with bodies hanging off of him) ...
