In Chillicothe'a run to the State Title, the only team to hold them under 65 points was Logan Elm (a 49-48 loss in the District Finals). It was beautiful to watch them make the Cavaliers earn every point for the entire game, a Stiverson/Holbert masterpiece.
The funny thing is that Stiverson has said that this isn't one of his better defensive teams yet, which is why it's going to be crazy once they get to that point.

... I don't think this years edition of the Red & White is as physical as past years BUT they have the fundamentals to be good ... I also feel when a team plays a man to man D as LE does it expends a lot of energy, LE offensively runs so much motion, sets picks to free up shooters - throw in a short bench and it IS hard to "get it done defensively" - that goal of "allowing 50 or less" is not easy !!! ... LE does it as well as if not better than anyone imo ...

If kids today were more fundamentally sound - they could eat up a man-to-man D.
I would run one play every time down the floor. Isolate my best guard and best big man and run the pick-n-roll all night!

I'd love to see LE vs Vinton. Both teams can shoot it deep. Athens is slowly getting better every game

Great game by the Bulldogs! I'm liking the way these boys are starting to play and I believe we could possibly crack pfloyds elite 8!

The thing about Athens is they have a high ceiling, IMO.Athens_Bulldogs wrote:Great game by the Bulldogs! I'm liking the way these boys are starting to play and I believe we could possibly crack pfloyds elite 8!
A lot of other good DII teams in and around the area are senior laden (Vinton, LE for sure) - but Athens has an odd mix of seniors, juniors and sophs. They haven't been playing together since the 4th grade. Hines, Maxfield, Chubb and even Saltzmen have never played alongside Griff. Even the juniors only had about 3/4 of a season with him. It's going to take time for them to gel, but they have come along nicely thus far.
