Darn Meigs dropped to 43 even thought they beat #7 and put #16 out of tournament.

Meigs lost a bunch from last season :

Starters - Kaileb Sheets, Colton Lily
Role Players - Tyler Fields, Jaxon Meadows,

Returning Marauders : Christian Mattox , Dillon Mahr, Luke Musser, Jared Kennedy

... Meigs is on the radar with chances early to move up the TreeHugger list ... Warren, Athens, Vinton Co ... all in front of Meigs in the rankings ... that Warren matchup is EARLY on 12/6 @ Meigs ...

Pfloyd,
I am not sure why Gambill decided to go back to Portsmouth , but anyway, he is a Trojan again , I hope things work out well for him.

I like them being projected low actually, it will be hard to top last season and losing Sheets and Lilly definitely hurt a little, but have some surprising players this season. Definitely have better role players this year. Fields averaged 2.8 points a game and Meadows only 2.5 points a game.

Our season will hang on Kennedy improving his 4.5 points a game season. Have to have more production out of our big men...So many lost opportunities on 2nd and 3rd shots from rebounds last year.

Looking forward to get started.

... tvc_fan ... part of ranking these teams is looking at the players lost to graduation and trying to figure out how points, boards, defense, leadership are going to be replaced ... I don't lose sight of teams - 3 returning starters - I will be watching 93dog's TVC website from the outset ... especially the Dec. 6th game with Warren ... I'll see Warren in a scrimmage with River tomorrow night at Warren to get a look at what Coach Maddox will be putting on the court ...

That scrimmage has actually been either cancelled or pushed back due to Unioto's playoff appearance. Unioto's first scrimmage will be later this week with John Glenn and Columbus Briggs.

Looking forward to catching up at our Foundation Game with VC on the 22nd.

Bulldog sounds like you do some nice work. I'm an OVC homer but I'm jealous of all the TVC folks that get all of this information because of your work. Hopefully someone can start something like this for the OVC as well

Very excited to have Gabe Gambill (JR) back at Portsmouth to go along with Collin Boehm(SOPH)........both kids at 6-5, 250lb. should give the Trojans much needed post presence which can only improve the team on both ends of the court. Senior forward Kendal Reynolds can now play a more true wing position, which should give him more open looks. Last year, Kendal and Kyre Allison had to serve as our "post" players, even though neither fit that role. Portsmouth should also be much more competitive on the boards, which was a major concern coming into the season.

GO TROJANS!!!

Looks like Athens plays Chesapeake at the Big E classic ... Then Fairland at the Beasts of the southeast.

I didn't do a rundown on Washington CH BUT CH will be a quality team this season ... and South Webster has a lot of "potential" with their highest starting spot in the rankings in many years ... make sure you fill us in on this scrimmage !!!

pfloyd,

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the scrimmage, it was too far away and I didn't get off work in time.

I will ask around the town and see if any SW fans went but since it's nearly 2 hours away I doubt they did.

Hopefully there is a Lynchburg fan or WCH fan on here that can update us on how the scrimmage went!

VC hosted Logan Elm tonight. Obviously two very solid programs in the SE District that might meet again come tourney time. Scoring for the six quarters played as follows:
25 to 13 VC, 22 to 21VC, 20 to 11VC, 22 to 11VC, 10 to 10, and 28 to 18VC.

LE seemed unexperienced and lacked much of a scoring punch, nonetheless played their typical hard-nosed Stiverson defense and were fundamentally solid. They’ll get better as the season progresses.

Coach Combs and the Vikings have a very solid starting guard trio in Tristan Bartoe, Derick Jones, and Naylan Yates. Even though it’s early, these three haven’t seemed to miss a beat in the off season. VC’s unknown right now will hinge on post play. Bo McIntire is done and won’t be back for his senior year following a 2nd ACL surgery in the past nine months. 6’8” Junior Bryce Damron is a work in progress but will bear the load for the Vikes down low.
