D-IV Northwest Sectional Finals

Post by TheSportsGuy »

This sectional has the makings of some great tournament basketball. Now that the matchups are set, what are the predictions/projections for these games and teams?

1. Sciotoville East vs. 8. Leesburg Fairfield

2. Eastern Pike vs. 7. South Webster

3. Notre Dame vs. 6. Western Pike

4. Peebles vs. 5. Portsmouth Clay

1.East
2.Eastern
3.western
4.Peebles

still not 100% on the peebles vs clay game both good teams having trouble picking a winner. I'm going with peebles but if clay comes out and king does his thing and their other shooters are hitting then it could definitely be a win for the Panthers.

Looking forward to watching this sectional. Some very good matchups in the first round. This is the toughest SE D4 sectional in quite a while.

I just think any of the games can go either way. Will depend on the officiating crews assigned as to how they let the teams play. Typically the tournaments are a lot more physical and not over officiated. Not saying this is a reason or excuse, but can be a factor. This could benefit some teams and hurt others who play defense with their hands and not their feet. Also, the team that executes and takes good shots, rebounds and takes care of the ball, makes foul shots and defends. That just about covers it. Now here are several reasons why your team wins or loses.

I'm just waiting for Sports Guy to come on here questioning why he hates East again lol, hoping the smaller seeds win so my Western and Clay can make it out, good luck to everyone in such an exciting part of the season!

I recall just two years ago the 5, 6, 7, and 8 seeds won the Meigs Sectional.

It was:

#8 South Webster over #1 Southern 65-54
#7 South Gallia over #2 Symmes Valley 72-70
#6 Ironton St. Joe over #3 Eastern Pike 50-49
#5 Trimble over #4 Waterford 73-66

Now that's something you don't see everyday!

This Northwest sectional is so close in talent, I could easily see the 5-8 seeds all winning, or, I could easily see the 1-4 all winning. It's up for grabs, that's for sure!

I said watch out for the lower seeds, no predictions given other than I feel the lower seeds will make it interesting. I think Webster and Eastern will be close as Western and N.D. I think East has the easiest of the 3 games. I have not seen Fairfield so difficult for me to give much of an opinion. I think Clay has a tough game but more than capable in winning despite no one selecting them so far. Sports Guy started this topic and requested predictions , no hater in any way here.

if Webster beats eastern it's a upset there is a reason they have lost that many games.I know they beat east that is all everybody says but hell akia may have had a migraine or a ear infection that put him off his game that night nobody knows. I seen them play against white oak and that's what they looked like a #7 seed. white oaks guards took it to the hole all night got all kinds of penetration just couldn't make a shot and white oak played sloppy D. just saying if they win it's an upset.
