Washington CH 53
Jonathan Alder 45 a final

... less than 5 days prior to the Waverly SOCS Wireless Classic Jackson was set to take on Jonathan Alder in the 6pm slot ... Jackson had to drop out , Washington CH stepped up to fill the time slot vs a JA team that had won 4 of their last 5 games, had only allowed 22 ppg defensively vs their opponents in their last 5 games ... in the JA warmups the last 5 minutes were spent on "defensive drills" - the Pioneers KNOW defense ... the Blue Lions of Coach Bartruff were just now getting their starting 5 back together - having lost 2 games in a row without the services of their 6-6 post player Tanner LeMaster and 2 guard John Wall ... on Wednesday night both returned to the Lions lineup for a 51-43 win vs an improving Circleville squad ... how would they fare vs a Jonathan Alder squad who gives away points like Scrooge and his money? enter WCH Reico Colter -a Trotwood Madison transfer - the 5-7 pg is if not THE best player, he's right there anytime he steps on the court ... Colter can fill the napkin stat sheet offensively, defensively - scoring at the rim/midrange jumpers/beyond the arc treys/steals for transition offense ... vs JA - Reico was the difference maker ... Washington CH 53 Jonathan Alder 43 a final

... this one started out like CH was going to get to 22 pts to match the JA defensive ppg avg in the opening quarter - as Reico Colter knocked down 8 points ...forcing a JA timeout with CH up 11-4 at 3:39 on the clock ... good defense travels well from venue to venue and vs all opponents ,the last 3 1/2 minutes after the timeout had JA holding the Blue Lions to 2 points while adding 4 points of their own - defense ... besides Colter's 8pts / Isaiah Haithcock stepped out for a 3 ball and 2 on the blocks ... for Alder, Peyton Heiss 4pts/ a bucket each from Tyler Begin & Taber Headings ... Washington CH 13 Jonathan Alder 8 after 1 ... JA allowed 14 Court House points in the 2nd period blowing up their 22 ppg average defensively while offensively adding 15 points of the own - JA had all 5 starters get on the napkin stat sheet - Heiss adding 5 (a three ball included)/ 3 balls each from Begin/Headings giving the Pioneers 3/6 from downtown in the 2nd period 3/11 in the opening half ... 2 pointers each from Grant Welsch/Joey Walker rounded out the JA scoring ... for Court House - 4 pts for Colter/ Haithcock adding his 2nd trey/ Tanner LeMaster getting into the scorebook with a triple and 2 buckets down low... Washington Courthouse 27 Jonathan Alder 23 at the half ... keeping the opposition "in the ball park" with D is the trademark that JA hangs their hat on ... in period 3 the Pioneers held Colter and Co. to 7 points - Colter draining a 3 ball and 2/2 from the FT line & Isaiah Haithcock with a bucket in the paint ...the JA defense forced 7 CH turnovers in the period... what looked like Colter (CH) and Heiss (JA) going at it all game at both ends - in the 3rd Heiss threw down 8 points with a triple and couple of 2 pointers to go with 1/2 from the line ... Heiss got help from Welsch/Begin & Walker each getting a bucket ... Jonathan Alder 37 Washington Court House 34 after 3 ... a game is very rarely won by ONE player, basketball is a TEAM sport with TEAM needed at both ends of the floor - in the 4th, Heiss for Alder got 2 three pointers that was it for the Pioneer fgs to go with a pair of FTs from Walker 7 points total for JA in the 4th ... for CH Colter helped force 4 JA turnovers, Colter adding 7 pts on his ball in the quarter enter Tanner LeMaster - the big man down low that the Blue Lions had been missing in their 2 game losing streak - LeMaster got 3 big buckets on the blocks ... CH went 6/8 from the FT line to close it out ... Washington CH 53 Jonathan Alder 45 a final ...
