Ross/Pike County Power Rankings - Week 5

Post by Snotnose »

1. Waverly
2. Unioto
Our top two teams have convincingly distanced themselves from the rest of the pack heading into the New Year. Both teams picked up W’s over quality teams (Waverly beat Hurricane WV, Unioto beats Hillsboro)
3. Chillicothe - Put on pause until after January 1. Not going to punish them because they cannot play currently, so they stay in their spot from the previous rankings.
4. Western - conducted a blowout victory over Peebles in a rather quiet week of games over the holidays. Their ability to score a lot of points, along with being capable of holding opponents in the 30’s defensively allows them to move up a spot this week. The Indians need to more consistently show this ability on a game to game basis to keep rising up the rankings.
5. ZT - their only game since the last rankings, saw the Pioneers go down in defeat at the hands of Logan Elm. ZT must win these types of matchups to reach higher in the power rankings. Just can’t seem to get the inside/outside combination going together, which is hindering their expectations.
6. PV - stick in the 6th spot, same as the previous rankings, this week. Played a very formidable opponent, Hillsboro, and competed well as they come up a couple possessions short in the end. They can definitely make it interesting in the SVC with the New Year approaching, how slots 1-3 in that league will play out.
7. Piketon - definitely improving game by game, as their guard play determines the heights this team can reach by seasons end. The guard play showed an upward trend of taking care of the ball better, as they played Valley very well. A game that matchup wise could’ve got away from them, but the Redstreaks showed their ability to compete with high level teams.
8. Eastern - being idle over the past week actually plays in their favor, as they move up a spot. As stated in earlier rankings, hard to gauge where to put them regularly because of the toughness of their SOC II schedule.
9. SE - their brutal non-conference schedule makes it difficult to rank the Panthers. They took a couple of large margin losses since last week’s rankings, but those defeats came at the hands of a couple Division II schools. Applaud them not being afraid to play up, but don’t really know where they stand compared to the rest of the teams in this lower level of the rankings.
10. Huntington - no floor action over this past week of play.
11. Adena - had to find a replacement opponent, as they ended up playing London on Tuesday evening. Tough ask for the Warriors, as they went down in defeat. Still are close to inching their way out of the bottom spot though as the New Year approaches.

Happy New Year 2022!

Great Job on these Rankings! Being a SVC guy, I was hoping for a little more depth throughout the league but I still think the top of the league is very good! I still home out hope that ZT is going to turn it around and be a very good team!

Keep up the Great Work!! I look forward to next week’s rankings!
