Athens finishes regular season at 10-10. Probably Bulldogs best mark in seven years.

Athens impressed quite a few people this season and should continue that trend in the seasons to come.

They won 10 games in the 2003-04 season and I believe finished 10-12 overall. Lost to Vinton County in the sectional championship at Logan that season.

Bulldog64 or Coach Skinner can clarify if that record is wrong, but I'm 99.9-percent sure if my memory serves me right they went 10-12 that year.

Thanks, I think that was Forte kid"s team. And that was playing the SEOAL schedule, no disrespect to TVC. That was a really good VC team that played McLain in the district championship I believe.

Spartan....Yes, Aaron Forte played on that team as did Grant Gregory. That was a fun group to cover. Aaron and Grant's fathers were good guys to chat with.

That VC team you talk about started 3-3, won 14 in a row starting right after the new year to go 17-3 in the regular season and won their first TVC-Ohio title in 30 years.

I still have all the articles I did in coverage of them that season. Another good group I was fortunate enough to cover.

The Vikings won the sectional and beat Miami Trace in the district semifinals. Lost to McClain 65-59 in the district finals in their first ever district title game. McClain had some 6-4 freshman named Dante' Jackson, who poured in 35 points that day, March 13, 2004.

You may have heard of Dante' Jackson. :122249

VC finished that season 20-4 and set several records which have since been broken.

Great improvement this year but there should have been great improvement since they dropped down to the TVC. Hopefully next year the can get some wins over teams with winning records. We lost to a lot of DIII and DIV teams that should have been wins. If a change in offensive strategy and especially DEFENSE is stressed over the summer they will have a big year in 2009-10. They have a lot of talent coming back and up but if you don't stress defense it won't matter. Congrats to the Dogs and lets work hard in the off season.
