Happy Together--The Turtles--1967--#1

WHENEVER A TEENAGER CRIES...Reparata & the Delrons, 1965, M&L by Ernie Maresca(who performed "SHOUT, SHOUT, KNOCK YERSELF OUT")

Reparata was/is Mary Aiese, who took the name reparata from a nun at her high school. The Delrons changed quite often. This was their only USA hit, although they had "CAPTAIN OF MY SHIP in England.

There are sites stating that "Teenager" was recorded in 1960, but I distinctly remember hearing it quite often in the summer of '65 between my junior/senior years in HS.

When Mary decided to quit touring, she gave the name "Reparata" to Lorraine Mazzoli, one of the "Delrons", who became lead singer of the group. When their fortunes faded, Mary took back "Reparata", although she had to undergo a court fight with Lorraine to win it back. She toured with some new Delrons before taking a teaching job...but she still performs sometimes with various former Delrons as "Reparata & the Delrons". They're still a big fan fave in NYC where Mary grew up.
