You decide…here are three recent boys basketball players who transferred in the state of Ohio this year. Rulings (one indirectly) from the OHSAA have decided if they are eligible to play this season.

Good read. It definitely seems as if the “little guy” gets hurt in situations like this more often than not. Spire, as well as any prep school similar to them, is in a great position to keep kids automatically eligible after transferring in. However, there a non OHSAA member so I don’t see how anything could be done differently.

The perplexing one in the article was Andre Gordon. Transferred to Oak Hill Academy, transfers back within a couple months and is automatically eligible. That’s pretty strange. So, say a kid transfers to Spire in September. They decide in November to move back to their home school (a public school). Due to the ruling here, the player should be automatically eligible, correct?

If so, that’s a weird component of a pretty shaky system.
