1992 - Division 3, Region 11 - #3 out of 35 teams with 136.5000 total points. This was the only year NY qualified for the playoffs during the years it played in Division 3. Only the top four teams qualified in each region, and there were only five divisions at the time (so there were more teams in each region than is the case today). From 1980-1993 there were only five divisions. In my opinion, this was NY's third best team all-time after the '81 and '82 seasons. The Buckeyes just flat out dominated everyone that year, including Logan. Even though NY lost to Ironton in the first round of the playoffs 14-0, Ironton was state runner up that year and only the state champions held Ironton to fewer points than NY did that year. Here were the top 8 teams that year...

1. Ironton 213.7222
2. Sheridan 144.0000
3. Nelsonville-York 136.5000
4. Uhrichsville Claymont 131.9444

5. Bellaire 120.5000
6. Waverly 115.5555
7. Licking Valley 109.0000
8. New Concord John Glenn 105.0000

1994 - Division 4, Region 15 - #2 out of 30 teams with 26.1000 average points. NY finished as regional runner up in the playoffs. This was the first year that there was a Division 6, as only 5 divisions existed since 1980 when it was increased from the Class AAA, AA, and A to Divisions 1-5. With the addition of a Division 6, the brand new redistribution of teams moved NY down from Division 3 to Division 4 this season. The way playoff points are calculated was changed slightly as well, creating the "average points" that we have today. Top 4 teams in each region of the six divisions made the playoffs. Here are the top 8 teams that year.....

1. Amanda-Clearcreek 28.5500
2. Nelsonville-York 26.1000
3. Coshocton 25.4500
4. Wheelersburg 24.0000

5. Licking Valley 20.4500
6. Fairland 19.0000
7. Martins Ferry 17.7500
8. Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley 15.8500

1997 - Division 4, Region 15 - #1 out of 29 teams with 26.1820 average points. NY finished as regional runner up in the playoffs. Top four teams made the playoffs in each region of the six divisions. Here are the top 8 teams that year.....

1. Nelsonville-York 26.1820
2. Bellaire 25.2530
3. Wheelersburg 21.8830
4. Piketon 19.6500

5. Portsmouth 18.8886
6. Ironton 18.6870
7. Granville 18.0500
8. Martins Ferry 17.6500

1998 - Division 5, Region 19 - #2 out of 29 teams with 21.7310 average points. This is the year that NY dropped down to Division 5 for the first time ever. NY finished as the regional runner up this season. Only the top 4 teams qualified in each region of the six divisions, but I include the top 8 schools here....

1. Wheelersburg 26.8040
2. Nelsonville-York 21.7310
3. Lucasville Valley 17.6350
4. Chesapeake 16.9350

5. Monroe Central 13.9090
6. Trimble 13.2990
7. Licking Heights 13.0500
8. Coal Grove 12.7194

2000 - Division 5, Region 19 - #8 out of 29 teams with 14.0000 average points. With a #8 seed, NY was the benefit of expanded playoffs in the very first year of the playoff expansion from four to eight teams. 8 teams, 6 divisions and the top four seeds getting a home game in the new first round of the playoffs. NY played the #1 seed at the #1 seeds home field and only lost by one point, 14-13. Here was the breakdown that year.....

1. Ashland Crestview 19.6500
2. Fort Frye 17.6500
3. Amanda-Clearcreek 17.1390
4. Miller 15.6220
5. Smithville 15.2160
6. Newcomerstown 15.0500
7. Johnstown Northridge 14.0500
8. Nelsonville-York 14.0000

Here are the revised questions yet to be answered -

10. What were the opponents, final scores and locations for the playoff games from 1981 and 1982?

12. What years did NY compete in each of these regions?
Class AA, Region 7
Division III, Region 11
Division IV, Region 15
Division V, Region 19

13. Had the top 8 teams in each region qualified for the playoffs since the beginning of the football playoffs, what additional years would the Buckeyes have qualified for the playoffs?

Any more guesses? I'll wait another day or two before I give the final answers to see if anyone can guess them first.
