NY Football Trivia - Most points scored for and against

Here are two trivia questions for those who follow NY football........

1. What were the most points scored all-time in a single game by a Buckeye football team and what team were they scored against??

2. What were the most points scored by an opponent against the Buckeye football team in a single game and what team scored those points?

I will post the answers to these questions one week from today - or after the guesses stop coming in.

Not sure this is the highest but NY 49- Wellston48. A real battle of defenses there That probably has to be the highest scoring game that NY has been involved in. Score might have been 48-47.

I would say the worst defeat came from Logan.

I answer question #2 first...1970 Warren 64 Nelsonville 0.

The Buckeyes beat Trimble 58-0 my junior season. Gail and company could've put up many more, but didn't play most of the third quarter and all of the fourth.

Trimble had gotten beat 44-0 at Belpre the week before. (two weeks 102-0) The Tomcats then flipped a switch and gave up only 14 points the rest of the season (only 7 against the first team defense) with four shutouts and won the TVC-Hocking that year.

And I know this isn't the subject, but Trimble's records are

Most points for: 77 (2003 at home against Southern 77-18)

Most points against: 83 (1972 at Alexander 83-8) Trimble was 0-10 that season and they hired a new coach the next season, Paul Culver, who used that score as motivation every time the 'Cats played Alex, and to build the Trimble Football program. (Its why some Tomcat fans talk about the BC, Before Culver, era of Trimble football)

Don't know if that's it or not, but figure it has to be close. You had to get the Buckeyes early, cause they didn't get beat like that much after they joined the TVC.

Great job LoganLocos! You are correct! The 1970 and 1971 Logan victories over NY were the biggest defeats in NY football history. NY has only had four losing seasons after the '71 season.

Any more guesses on the biggest victory at NY in terms of total points scored???

This is trivia for the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 1967-present, not the Nelsonville Greyhounds 1878-1966.

My freshman year in 1948, GAHS beat the old Nelsonville Greyhounds 86-0 on Memorial Field in Gallipolis.

My sophomore year in 1949, Nelsonville, led by Clarence Whitey Tyo and Dean Circle, downed GAHS 18-14 to snap the Blue Devils three-year, 21-game winning streak (and 14-0 SEOAL string.)

It was Nelsonville's first grid win over GAHS in 20 years.

Just because the AD at Nelsonville-York is not smart enough and not qualified to do his job does not mean Coach Arno should do it for him. Hire someone qualified and intelligent enough to do the job and you wouldn't have to rely on another school's coach to do it for you. Oh, that's right, NY's superintendent tried to do that and the board wouldn't let him do his job that he is qualified to do.

Why don't you keep your nose in Alex's football program. They need all the help they can get.You guys are 0-for against NY. If you keep talkin like that it will stay that way.

Actually, that Superintendent was also responsible for that problem. But hey . THANKS!!! for all the concern you show for NY football. I have noticed that the majority of your posts are in reference to our program. I guess you would be the Concerned Citizen Watchdog group for NY Athletics. Have fun with that.

1980 - NY 68 Federal Hocking 7

Also, on points scored against NY, Warren also scored 64 on NY in 1970 in addition to the two 64 point Logan games.

Here is the 60 point club against NY all-time......notice that most of these were in the very first few years after consolidation....

There is no 70 point club for or against NY as of the present. There are several games that are members of the 50 point club, most of which NY won.

Yes, that is it. However, there are many, many games NY scored between 50-59 points.
