Brass lantern did indeed later become Beef and Brew and i believe later "Changes".

All this talk has me remembering tursday nights in 1985 at Shenanigans. 3 little kings for a buck after class at the Branch...maybe even drank one with our professor...algebra, he taught. Maybe even refereed with Mailman Mahlmeister? :-D Those were the days.

I remember the Barn and the Place but never frequented those 2.

Did you by chance enter any of the Hawaiian Tropic body builder contests during the summer at Shenanigans cause I know you would have won had you entered.......

Does anyone remember the two-room Hecla Elementary School that housed grades one thru seven?

It was the first school I attended. And that was 1953.

Many, many years ago - I had seriously sprained my ankle while mowing my yard the previous week. The church I was attending at that time had a new Pastor unfamiiar with this area.
One Saturday, we members of that church were painting and cleaning our building both inside and outside. I arrived to help with the work limping due to my recently injured ankle.
The new Pastor called out a greeting to me - "Hey there, Step-And-a Half" [because I was limping] - having no idea to whom or what that name/term meant here in Ironton.
Several painters and window-washers nearly fell off their ladders! And I never lived that down!

On re-reading, I guess this is kind of off-topic - sorry for responding on kyII's thread.
