Absolutely agree - one of my favorites!! I think his The Cider House Rules is better known, but I didn't like it nearly as much as "Owen Meany" which still resonates in my head and thinking.

John Grisham's non-fiction 'The Innocent Man' is an excellent read. The next time you hear someone say, 'I know they're guilty, lock em' up and toss away the key' you should point them to this book which tells about one man's incredible nightmare of being convicted of something he didn't do. Spending time in prison and being tormented by sadistic prison guards (which Grisham even list the guards' real names)

Her books are the basis for the "Rizzoli and Isles" TV shows. I've read and watched both.
They're good, but I like the Patricia Cornwell/Kay Scarpetti medical examiner series better.

Read one of Cornwell's last week , my first... pretty good . a couple of Tess's were far above the others " The surgeon " and "The apprentice " were very good

At the request on here I read " The Innocent man" by Grisham the past 2 days.... pretty good read . sad commentary on our justice and penal systems .... terrible !

Starting a book from Savages author Don Wilslow this weekend ... I liked Savages but all his fans thought it was far below his earlier work " The Power of the Dog " I'll start it tommorrow MD

Have any of you ever watched "Longmire" on A & E TV? I thought it was pretty good - I learned it was based on books written by Craig Johnson about Sheriff Walt Longmire in a western state - much like Joe Pickett series written by C. J. Box. BOOKS are always BETTER in my estimation. Occasionally some talented people translate books WELL to film - movies/TV - but rarely.
My library [Briggs in Ironton] had very few of these books - but they "borrowed" them for me from Jackson, Athens, McCarthur, et al libraries - and that's what I'm reading right now. I have to do it quickly because I have to get them right back - after all - they're double borrowed.
