Piketon hosts the boys 8th grade Scioto Valley Conference tourney on Feb. 7th, 9th and 11th.

Feb. 10th- 7th Grade 2nd Rd- Fayetteville Middle School
Feb. 11th- 8th Grade 2nd Rd- Manchester HS
Feb. 14th- 7th & 8th Grade Semi-Finals- Fairfield HS
Feb. 18th- 7th & 8th Grade Finals- Whiteoak HS

Gallia Academy does not enter into any tournaments. I wish the school would let us. It probably all comes down to money, it always does.

Why doesn't Gallipolis turn a Negative into a positive and host a Jr. High Tournament? Invite River Valley, Meigs, Pt. Pleasant, South Gallia, etc... and make some money instead of complaining about not having any money!!

Pike Eastern is having both boys & girls.
I believe the girls are Feb. 14-18 & the boys I believe will be the following week.
Not sure what all schools are entered.
I was at a few games of this tourney last year. I thought it was a very nice tourney.

Gallipolis used to host junior high and freshmen tournaments in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Probably no one wants to fool with it today.

Fairland is hosting the girls middle school OVC tournament

For all you non OVC fans, the OVC always has their own tournament. Personally I would like them to do away with it and that way the teams would be free to play other schools instead of the same old ones that they played in regular season. Usually but not always the same 1 or 2 teams end up winning the conference and then get 1st or 2nd in the tourney. So what is the point. If they were free to go to whatever tourney they wanted to, then we might really know which school really has the best middle school team in southern ohio becasue they could play anybody! Oh well!

I would love to organize one for Gallipolis in basketball and volleyball, or go and play in the Gallia County Tournament that David Moore puts on. We are always turned down by the Administration.

Results from today SHL JH Girls Tournament games at Lynchburg-Clay Middle School:

1st Rd 8th Grade:

(10)Whiteoak def. (8)Manchester (not sure of the score). Whiteoak plays Ripley Wednesday night in the 2nd Rd. at Manchester.

2nd Round 8th Grade:

(5) Fayetteville def. (4) North Adams 42-38(OT) (North Adams' Emily Fite with 34 points!! The Lady Devils played most of OT with only 3 players; started OT with 4!!!)

Fayetteville will play the winner of Ripley/Whiteoak next Saturday in the Semi-finals at Fairfield HS.

2nd Round 7th Grade:

(4) North Adams def. (5) Manchester 26-23.

North Adams will play the winner of Peebles/West Union (2nd Rd. game; Tuesday at Fayetteville) in the Semi-Finals next Saturday (14th) at Fairfield HS.

Don't know what happened in the 1st Rd. 8th Grade game between Fairlfield and West Union.

The rest of the 2nd round games will be played:
7th Grade (Tuesday at Fayetteville HS)

All 4 semi-final games will be played next Saturday (14th) at Fairfield HS.

SVC seventh grade tourney is @ southeastern begins sat. Huntington is the number one seed I beleive.
