School based buddy basketball

Post by Dragon70 »

Would like to host a meeting with interested school grade based buddy league basketball programs about starting a possible OVC or SE all star league next year that would run for approximately 6 weeks with each school hosting tourneys each week. Possible teams: Galipolis , Coal Grove, Rock Hill , Hannan Trace, Valley , Portsmouth, ??

I think this is a great idea. Here are some other possible grade based leagues that may participate:

Ironton, New Boston, Green, Ashland, Wheelersburg, Greenup, Russell

I have heard from Minford, Coal Grove, Galia County, and us Fairland about this possibility next year. We would love to have a meeting in March at a middle or neutral spot so we could discuss this and plan for next year. I know it would help our youth leagues out for sure with set tournaments and a approximate end date of regular season. We were involved in one in WV until we changed to grades and would like to start one in Ohio. If any others interested please respond or call and we will meet in March. Thanks James. Fairland BBL

Would this occur after the "regular" season? Would not be a very good idea to single kids out to be "All Stars" until the end of the season. Not sure singling kids out as "All Stars" is a good idea anyway. Those that would like to play additional games should be offered to all.

Yes it would be after regular season when schools select all star teams or decide to play their school teams against others. It would be hopefully for about 6 weeks with different schools hosting tourneys each week for different grades.
