Jackson 8th Grade Summer League

Post by Ironman92 »

Going to be about as good as a summer league can get.

Teams:
Jackson
Meigs
Waverly
Logan Elm
South Webster
Logan
Zane Trace
Eastern Pike

Meigs and Waverly both 18 or 19-0, Jackson 17-1....Logan Elm a very good group, South Webster one of the top offensive players of that age. Logan a very good group. Zane Trace typically has very good athletes.

It is summer league and I imagine most teams will be playing without some of their main players...but love the teams they got together for this league. Only wish they could've gotten Fairland, Chillicothe or Vinton Co.

I saw 3 of the weeks. A lot of key players in and out as in any summer league. Waverly was the best team. One week Robertson would look like the top player for them but the size and athleticism of the Futhey kid made him look like the unstoppable player a good bit. Waverly is very good. Coach was a nice man.

Logan Elm as expected had a nice team and an excellent player. You always know LE is going to be solid every year.

Jackson was hit and miss. At no point did they ever have more than 3 starters last year. Players missing for baseball, football and basketball camps. A lot of kids gained good experiences playing difficult teams.

Logan was solid with one of the premier players.

South Webster has two very good players and are a nice D4 team.

Meigs dropped out for some reason.

It was a good league. Some teams and coaches definitely approach it differently than others. Some fans are brutal. A couple coaches acted like this was a district championship.

8th grade is pretty darn loaded with excellent excellent players and teams. It will be very interesting watching these kids and teams grow.

Enjoyed the analysis, thanks so much! It does look like several good teams going into 8th grade.
