A little Top 6 Food for thought....

Post by Valenth »

I was looking over the top 6 and wanted to take a comparison of the combined records of the opponents the top 6 has played.

1. Alabama combined opponents record 10-14
2. Clemson combined opponents record 11-13
3. Georgia combined opponents record 9-9
4. Ohio State combined opponents record 14-10
5. LSU combined opponents record 5-12
6. Oklahoma combined opponents record 6-12

Also ALL teams for the exception of.. Ohio State has AT LEAST ONE.. FCS opponent they have played or will be playing in the future.

Thoughts?

It's nothing different from any other year. Every team in the SEC would play " The Sisters Of The Poor " every year if they could play them at Home. Most of the time even when they play an away game, it is often at a neutral site. At the end of the year, just watch and see some of the cupcakes that they always have on there schedule. I think that one of the SEC teams that will surprise people before the year is over will be Auburn. As far as Clemson and the ACC, when Duke is one of the best teams in the league in football, that should tell you plenty right there. The big thing about this is you will very rarely ever hear the Media even mention, let alone talk about this.

So very very True... I try to back up my statements with Proof as opposed to propaganda like ESPN does to push the SEC.

Oh I see we forgot to mention that this website didn't include the FCS opponents in their average! Or how Ohio State has 2 of the teams they destroyed in their NON conference schedule in the top 25 on this website...

There's no Link available for FCS opponents so they are not truthfully averaging these games. The SEC does usually get two Bye weeks when they schedule an FCS opponent.

But it's laughable that the #1 Alabama team is ranked at 20th...

The Sagarin Rankings show a more legitimate basis on his accuracy based off of strength of schedule.

It’s funny watching you OSU people spin everything. Your best win is mid major Cincinnati

I’m pretty sure LSU beat Texas and Georgia beat Notre Dame. That’s called playing the big boys. The NCAA needs to force OSU into playing at least one good out of conference game

And the NCAA should force the SEC schools to stop scheduling FCS opponents. 😉

These discussions are all in good discussions. Everyone has points. Don't take any offense to any of my posts 😁

Agreed... I give you that..they didn't schedule one this this year. But there's future years where their out of conference schedules will have Power 5 opponents.

Also. I hope you don't think I'm spinning anything.. Honestly I try to back my statements with facts. I go by Sagarin rankings due to the association with USA Today.

The future looks more challenging in the future. However... Having Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas and Washington.

Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Washington are only teams in top 15 without a Non-conference game vs a P5 team or Notre Dame. Washington did beat BYU a few weeks ago. BYU is currently 2-3 and 2-2 vs P5 schools.

We don't know who Texas really is. My thought, not a juggernaut. Notre Dame win at home for Georgia? Pffttt...
OSU would blast both those teams.

History hasn't changed much in the last 60 years and it'll all come out at year end with the 4 team playoff nowadays with 1 champ a year, as it should be.
National titles by conference since 1959 & includes co-champs by AP, UPI, etc before the BCS and when teams were affiliated with each conference at the time
SEC- 24
SWC,BIG8,BIG12 - 17
PAC8,PAC10,PAC12 - 11
BIG10 - 10
ACC- 6
Others - Miami 5, Notre Dame 4, Penn State 2
