In one of the biggest upsets in recent men's cross country championship history, BYU has won the the national title, unseating 3-time defending national champions Northern Arizona, who was #1 all year. This was the first time that Northern Arizona did not win a meet they competed in since 2015. BYU scored 109 points to win the title, followed by Northern Arizona with 163 points, and finishing third was Colorado with 164 points. This was BYU's first title in program history, after finishing as last year's runner-up.

Edwin Kurgat of Iowa State claimed the individual national title, finishing 5 seconds ahead of the second place runner.
