It was an up and down first two weekends to start the season for the Buckeyes in Florida. They started off strong in Orlando at the Friends of Jaclyn Tournament, going 3-1 and only losing to the host team, UCF.

They then went to a big time tournament, in Clearwater at the ESPN Elite Invitational, falling to two top 10 teams, and a receiving votes Notre Dame team. But the one bright spot of the weekend was their win over Utah.

Next up will be another big weekend, as the Buckeyes travel to Palm Springs, California for the Mary Nutter Classic this coming weekend.

Ohio State (5-4) got their weekend started off the right way in Palm Springs, with a 4-0 victory over Army (4-8). This game was deadlocked at 0-0 until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Buckeyes struck quickly. The bases were loaded, as Kaitlyn Coffman stepped up to the plate. She found a good pitch and sent it deep for a grand slam, for the only scoring play of the game. She went 1-for-3 on the game. Skylar Howard got the start in the circle, where she went 5 innings, but Morgan Ray took the win in relief going 2 innings. Both those pitchers combined to pitch a no-hitter.

Jolie Doung took the loss for Army, as she pitched the entire game.

The Buckeyes will continue their weekend in California tomorrow as they play both Utah and Duke.

The Buckeyes finished off a huge weekend in Palm Springs, as they went undefeated in quite dominant fashion, only giving up one run the entire weekend. After their Friday win over Army, they followed that up with a 2-0 victory over Utah and a 6-0 victory over Duke on Saturday. Heading into Sunday (the final day of the tournament), the Buckeyes took one more win as they defeated New Mexico State 5-1 to wrap up their weekend.

Next up will be another huge weekend next week, as Ohio State heads to Seattle, where they will play two games against Seattle, one against Washington, one against Idaho State and one against Northern Illinois.

They will stay out west a little longer, as they play a double header at Portland State on Tuesday. Then they will head to Phoenix for a weekend tournament.

For OSU, it was a mixed bag on the first day of the GCU Invitational in Phoenix, as they fell to Weber State 4-0, but then came back in the second game to pick up a 2-0 win over Lehigh.

Tomorrow, they'll play Lehigh at 1pm and then come back to play the host Grand Canyon at 6pm.

A little late getting this one posted up. But, the Buckeyes picked up a monster sweep over the weekend in Columbus, as they swept #19 Indiana in a three game series. They won games at 7-6, 5-3 and 2-0.

They were supposed to get a game in at Kentucky yesterday, but the game was postponed. Next up, they'll travel to College Park to take on Maryland in a three game series beginning on Friday.

It was another successful weekend for the Buckeyes, as they hit the road in Maryland for a three game set against the Terrapins. On Friday, the Buckeyes fell in a close one, 3-2. But then, OSU showed their power in the last two games, as they run-ruled Maryland on Saturday in a 10-1 victory over 5 innings, then picked up another blowout win on Sunday, winning 15-3.

Ohio State will get one non-conference game on Wednesday when they travel to Pittsburgh, before hosting Rutgers in a three game series over the weekend.

Lauren Rice snatched the win for OSU in the game, to advance to 12-1 on the year, while she went 3.1 innings and gave up 2 hits.

Although they didn't win all 3 games over the weekend against visiting Rutgers, the Buckeyes did pull out a series win by winning 2 out of 3 games. On Friday, OSU pulled out a 2-0 shutout victory. Then on Saturday, they nearly pulled out another victory, but were edged by the Knights 8-6, while going 8 innings. Then on Sunday, the Buckeyes left nothing to doubt, as they run-ruled Rutgers in 5 innings, winning 8-0.

Ohio State will now play a double-header at Penn State on Tuesday, before returning home for the weekend.

Yes, They have a solid pitcher, but the bats are not as strong as in years passed. NW looks to pretty good this year as well.

The Buckeyes hit the road for a doubleheader on Tuesday to take on Penn State. They lost a close first game by a final score of 6-4. Then in the second game, OSU clicked on all facets, cruising to a 12-1 victory over 5 innings.

Next up, Ohio State will host Michigan in a 3-game series beginning on Friday.

It may seem like an unsuccessful weekend for the Buckeyes, they did pick up one win over #21 Michigan. They fell in the first game on Friday 10-3, then fell 6-2 in the second game. But, they finally picked up a win in the finale by going 8 innings and winning by a final score of 2-1.

Ohio State's next game will be their final non-conference game when they host Ohio on Tuesday.

In their final non-conference game of the season, the Buckeyes (26-14) pulled out a home win over Ohio (28-17) by a final score of 4-3. OSU took the lead in the 2nd inning with a solo home run from Ashley Prange (6th). Prange then struck again in the 5th inning with a two-out RBI single to give the Buckeyes a 3-0 lead. OU came back to tie the game up in the top of the 6th with a three-run home run off the bat of Alex Day (10th). OSU then went ahead in the bottom of the inning, after a double by Bri Betschel, then while advancing to third there was a throwing error on the defense that allowed Betschel to score to take the lead for the final time.

Pitching line:
Winner: M. Ray (11-6)
Loser: K. Meeks (1-1)

Next up, Ohio State will play a 3-game series at Michigan State beginning on Friday.

Just watched Michigan and the other team in Michigan play. If OSU can put some bats on the msu pitchers they can win pretty easy. They have no stand out pitcher. They are slow (50 to 60mph) and they pitch by committee. They used 3 or 4 pitchers against Michigan..... Didn't help the outcome but..

It was a solid sweep for the Buckeyes over the weekend in East Lansing. They run ruled the Spartans on Friday by a final score of 15-6 in 6 innings. They then pulled out a tight win on Saturday by a final score of 3-2. And then they run ruled Michigan State again on Sunday with an 11-1 victory in 5 innings.

Next weekend, Ohio State will host Illinois in a 3-game series beginning on Friday.
