It was a very successful opening weekend for the Buckeyes on the diamond, as they claimed three victories over Seton Hall in Port Charlotte, Florida at the Snowbird Classic. They won games at 4-3, 6-0 and 5-3.

They will play one more game in Florida, as they play at Florida Gulf Coast today at 5pm.

The Buckeyes (4-0) remained perfect to begin the season, by winning 2-0 at Florida Gulf Coast (2-2) on Monday evening. Brady Cherry had a stellar night at the plate for the Buckeyes, as he went 3-for-3 as well as his solo home run (2nd of the season) in the 2nd inning to give the Buckeyes the only run they needed. For good measure, Noah West added an RBI in the 6th inning. Griffan Smith took the win on the mound to move to 1-0, after going 5 innings of 1 hit, 7 strikeout baseball.

Evan Lumbert took the loss for FGCU, giving up 1 run and 4 hits in 5 innings pitched.

Next up, Ohio State will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas for the Kleberg Bank Tournament, which begins on Friday.

For the first time this season, the Buckeyes (4-1) dropped a game, as they fell 5-1 to BYU (4-2) in their first game of the weekend in Corpus Christi. OSU got their only run of the game on a sac fly in the 6th off the bat of Kobie Foppe. All 5 of BYU's runs came in the third inning as they broke the game open and never looked back. Seth Lonsway (1-1) got the nod for the Buckeyes on the mound, as he had a rough day, giving up 5 runs in just 2.1 innings.

Jordan Wood got the win on the mound for BYU, going 6 innings and giving up 1 run on 3 hits.

Next up, Ohio State will continue their weekend as they play the host team, Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 7pm.

After starting off their weekend in Corpus Christi with a loss to BYU on Friday, the Buckeyes were bested again on Saturday, falling to a rallying, host Texas A&M Corpus Christi team, 8-7. But, OSU did pick up a win on Sunday for the first time this weekend, as they rolled by Oral Roberts 8-3.

They wrap up their weekend on Monday when they play Texas A&M Corpus Christi one more time at 3pm.

The Buckeyes (5-3) dropped their final game of the weekend in Texas on Monday 3-2, against host Texas A&M Corpus Christi (5-4). The Islanders used a late-game rally to take this one from OSU. Jake Vance took the start on the mound for the Buckeyes, going 4 innings of scoreless, 1-hit baseball. Will Pfennig was next up, going 3 innings of scoreless baseball. But, Bayden Root allowed all 3 Islanders runs in the final inning of the game.

The top of the 5th is where the scoring started in this one, as freshman Zach Dezenzo hit his first career home run in a Buckeye uniform. No more scoring came until the bottom of the 8th, where the Islanders scored all 3 of their runs. Once OSU got to the top of the 9th, they tried to mount a comeback, and were able to score one run. But, a ground ball ended the game, when the Buckeyes had two runners on base.

Zach Rumfield picked up the win in relief for Corpus Christi, going 3 innings and allowing 1 run.

Next up, Ohio State has a four game series at Bethune-Cookman this coming Friday through Monday.

In their first two games of the weekend in Daytona Beach, the Buckeyes have split decisions against Bethune Cookman, falling to the hosts 4-3 on Friday, then cruising to a 6-0 victory on Saturday. In the first game, Seth Lonsway took the mound for the OSU start, and ultimately took the loss, going 4.1 innings and giving up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now moves to 1-2 on the year.

In the second game, the Buckeyes rolled to victory. They played a lot of small ball on the diamond for the win. Garrett Burhenn got the start on the mound to move to 2-0 on the season. He earned the victory on 6.1 innings, while giving up 7 hits but no runs. Dominic Canzone led the way for OSU, going 3-for-5, while scoring 1 run and driving in 2 runs.

Ohio State will have two more games against Bethune Cookman before heading home, today and tomorrow.

The BaseBucks will be playing in my neck of the woods over the coming weekend. Greenville's Fluor Field and Spartanburg 's King Field are great venues for college baseball. If the weather holds, I will try and catch a couple of games.

Yeah, Greenville, at least its downtown district, is one of the best areas in the nation. An awful lot of the Upstate though has seen its better days. The saving grace is the economy and plentiful jobs.

In their first two days in Greenville, the Buckeyes pitching has struggled a little big. They are currently 0-2 on the weekend, falling to MIchigan State 7-1, then falling to Western Carolina 8-5.

They will wrap up their time in Greenville on Monday as they play Furman.

The Buckeyes took two more on the chin. Wrapping up their time in Greenville, they lost a heart breaker to Furman, 11-10 in 10 innings.

They then traveled to Spartanburg, South Carolina to take Wofford on for one game. A game that they ultimately lost 8-6.

Next up, Ohio State will be at home for the first time this season, as they host 3 games against Lipscomb this Friday through Sunday.

I was able to attend the OSU at Wofford matchup. The Buckeyes seemed more interested in getting back on the bus and heading home rather than playing baseball. Of course no one ever said the BIG 10(14) was relevant in college baseball. At least the grandson enjoyed the game.

Unfortunately, the Big Ten is super relevant in baseball. I'm sure playing 16 road games in less than a month had something to do with them wanting to get back on the bus and get home though.

The only two teams in the Big Ten that you will typically see every year in the rankings is Indiana and Michigan.

The Buckeyes (8-9) got things started off right on Friday in their home opener, defeating Lipscomb (9-7) by a final score of 14-3. OSU recorded a season-high 18 hits, and scored the most runs in a home opener that they've scored in 12 years. Zach Dezenzo led the way for the Buckeyes blasting two home runs in his first game ever at Bill Davis Stadium. Garrett Burhenn improved to 3-1 on the year on the mound.

They will play the second game of their series on Saturday at 3:05pm.

OSU closed out their weekend earlier today by going 2-1 for the weekend against visiting Lipscomb. After their victory in the first game, they fell in the second game on Saturday, losing 9-3. But then they pulled out a nail biter today, closing out the series by winning 7-6.

Next up, Ohio State will welcome Northern Kentucky to Bill Davis Stadium for one game on Tuesday, before hosting Hawaii in a four game set over the weekend.
