After finishing last season ranked #2 in the nation behind national champions Wake Forest, the Buckeyes will begin the 2019 campaign ranked #2 once again, and, yet again, ranked behind defending champions Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons received 11 of the 12 first place votes in the first poll of 2019, while OSU was the only other team to receive one.

Ohio State will kick off the season on Sunday as they host two matches against in-state foes, Xavier and Cleveland State.

Xavier canceled their trip to Columbus, but Cleveland State still made the trek down, so the Buckeyes and Vikings played each other twice on Sunday. OSU cruised to victory in both matches, winning 7-0 then 7-1.

Next up, they'll host their branch of the ITA Kickoff, playing VCU on Saturday then playing either Arkansas or Cornell on Sunday.

OSU finished up their solid weekend, by winning the ITA Kick-off title, and claiming their spot in the ITA Indoor National Championships, by defeating a receiving votes Arkansas team 4-1.

The Buckeyes were able to squeeze in another dual match on the day, where they defeated Toledo 4-0 as well.

Ohio State's next competition will be Saturday when they host Stanford.

The 2nd ranked Buckeyes had a very solid showing at home against #9 Stanford, winning 6-1. The only individual match the Buckeyes lost was at #3 singles. With the win, the Buckeyes advance to 6-0 and Stanford drops to 4-1.

Next up is a big weekend for Ohio State, as they host Arizona State on Friday and Georgia on Sunday.

The Buckeyes remained at #2 in this week's poll (released today). They have a tough week coming up as they host three opponents in the next 6 days. An Arizona State team that is receiving votes, 24th ranked Georgia, and then wrapping it up before ITA's with a match against #5 USC.

OSU continued their winning ways on Friday night, defeating Arizona State 6-1. Only giving up the single point, losing the #3 singles match in a thriller.

Ohio State hosts Georgia on Sunday in their next match.

It was a straight ambush for the men's netters on Sunday, as they dominated #24 Georgia 4-0 in Columbus. The victory avenges a 4-0 loss last year against the Bulldogs.

The last match for Ohio State before ITA Indoor Nationals will be on Tuesday when they host a tough USC squad.

Although Wake Forest is ranked #1 right now, and the Buckeyes are ranked #2, it's hard to argue against OSU, as the #1 team in the nation is essentially a toss up. Why? Well because the Buckeyes dominated another top 25 opponent on Tuesday night, as they destroyed #5 USC 5-0 in Columbus. In fact, since the first 5 team points were only counted, the Buckeyes won 6 of the 8 matches (only 6 were finished), and led in one of the other two singles matches.

We'll get to see who the top team in the nation really is this weekend, as the Buckeyes head to Chicago for the ITA Indoor National Championships which begins Friday. Ohio State actually received the #1 seed for the tournament, despite their #2 ranking. In the first round, OSU will face #19 Tulane (who is actually the #16 seed in the tournament).

This weekend has been a good one for the Buckeyes at ITA Indoor Nationals, as they defeated #19 Tulane on Friday 4-0 in the first round. Then in the quarterfinal on Saturday, they made quick work of #13 Virginia, winning 4-0. Sunday's semifinal saw the Buckeyes blank another team, dominating #6 Texas 4-0.

Monday will be the championship match, the one everyone has wanted to see, as #2 Ohio State will take on #1 Wake Forest at noon.

Indoor National Champions!! That's what the Buckeyes men's tennis team can now call themselves. After cruising to shutout victories in their first three matches of ITA Nationals, it was the match up all tennis fans wanted to see. #2 (#1 seed) Ohio State vs. #1 (#3 seed) Wake Forest in the national championship match. It was a repeat of last year's national championship match, as Wake Forest won that one. It was also the second indoor national title for OSU in school history, as their other came in 2014.

#1 doubles went the way of Wake Forest. But then, the Buckeyes claimed victories at both #2 and #3 doubles. Doubles are arguably the most important part of collegiate tennis. So, after doubles, the Buckeyes led 2-1. It came to singles, where out of the 6 singles matches, OSU only lost two of them to claim the national title!

Next up, Ohio State will get back into regular season play, as they host Kentucky on Wednesday.

Fresh off their indoor national championship title this past weekend, as their new unanimous #1 ranking, the Buckeyes got back into action today. They hosted Kentucky in a mid-week non-conference match and cruised to a 4-0 victory.

Next up, Ohio State will host #12 Notre Dame on Sunday at noon.

Another dominant performance for the Buckeye netters, as they defeated visiting #12 Notre Dame, 6-1 on Sunday. Although they trailed early on in almost all individual bouts, it was enough for the Irish, as the Buckeyes cruised to victories in all matches except one.

Next up for Ohio State will be their first B1G match of the year, as they travel to Penn State on Friday.

Looking to stay undefeated on the season, the Buckeyes did just that. As they defeated a tough, #36 Penn State team in their first true road match, 4-1 on Friday. The only point to go the way of the Nittany Lions was at #2 singles.

Ohio State's next full team match will be on the 11th when they travel to Texas A&M.

For the first time this season, the #1 Buckeyes dropped a match. It was at the hands of a receiving votes (#28) Texas A&M squad on the road in College Station, 4-3. OSU started off strong by winning the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. But singles is where the Aggies flexed their muscle. The Buckeyes played without their top man, #1 ranked singles player in the nation, JJ Wolf, but will have him for their next match.

Ohio State will stay in Texas for the week, as they travel to Austin, to face Texas on Thursday.

After making it through February without a single loss, the Buckeyes suffered their second straight upset on the road in the state of Texas, as they fell to the #4 ranked Longhorns, 4-1 on Friday.

The rest of Ohio State's season will be against Big Ten competition, as their first match in conference will be as they host Michigan State next Friday.

Playing their second conference match of the season, and now getting strictly into Big Ten play, the Buckeyes cruised to a 7-0 victory over Michigan State on Friday evening. They won all 6 singles matches, and won the doubles point, to blank the Spartans. They really needed a win in this one, as they had dropped their previous two matches against Texas A&M and Texas.

Next up will be a tough match for Ohio State, as they travel to Ann Arbor to take on Michigan on Sunday.

The top-ranked Buckeyes were able to stay undefeated in Big Ten play on Friday, as they defeated visiting Wisconsin 6-1. OSU cruised pretty much the whole way in this one, as the only match they lost was in #6 singles, as the match was mostly already decided.

Ohio State will next host a solid Minnesota team on Sunday.
