True! As an "associate member" of the ACC, they will be hurt by the ACC champion most years. And sooner or later , the SEC will get left out, ushering in the 8 team playoff, which is what the Domers really need.

the big ten should have added notre dame, and or pitt, cincy, west va. I've always said
instead of Rutgers and Maryland from a geographical stand point.

Notre Dame can make the CFP without a conference if they go 11-1 or 12-0 given their normal strength of schedule. Their pathway in however would be easier with a conference and a CCG. Game 13 should be looked at as a resume enhancer.

It will be extremely difficult for them any year. They are a proud independent team, so I don't see them ever joining a conference in football. They have to go undefeated to have a chance though.

Would like to see them in a confrence for sure but don't think it much matters. If they go undefeated I think they get in every year and if they lose a game it has to be early like everyone else. The schedule they play year in and out is normally better than most. They're in same boat as Big 12 right now but with a better schedule year in and out

Now, as for their independent status.
This is something that is only beneficial through tradition.
Every Big 10 school in the conference gets paid almost double what ND does in TV money.
After Delany gets the next contract, they'll be getting 4 times the amount ND does. That's EVERY Big 10 school!
