Spring Valley's (WV) Nester not enrolling early at OSU (Signs With Va Tech)

Post by Omega »

The Urban Meyer retirement is starting to take it's toll on Ohio State's recruiting. Huntington Spring Valley's Doug Nestor, an early enrollee pledge to Ohio State, has reopened his recruitment. This on top of of outright de-commitments from Jake Wray and Lejond Cavazos.
Losing commitments from players is not unexpected given UFM's leaving. The only question is how many. I hope OSU has not totally burned their recruiting bridges to Ohio hign schools.

Good move. The incoming players need to know if the coaches that they connected with are going to be there. As well as anymore fallout. Just like the Zach Smith mistake. They want to know not just know from the media and online know it sum's.

How is a couple of decommits burning bridges?

Some of these kids will still come to OSU. And if they dont, oh well. The recruiting class will still be very strong. Day is a great recruiter.

Why they need to get their info directly not off the media.

We'll lose some, we'll get some. Recruiting will be fine. Fox's Jason White said after one discussion with Ryan Day he expects him to be an incredible recruiter.

it will also open the door for others if we get decommits, and we will.

And OSU gets their first commit in the Ryan Day era...6'3" 225lb linebacker Tommy Eichenberg from Cleveland St. Ignatius.

The de-commits are not the bridges. The bridges are to Ohio high school coaches and players, who may have felt snubbed by Urban Meyer's national recruiting focus.

Which is also the reason why OSU has team speed and most of the conference doesnt. None have speed on the field like OSU.

Let's hire Urban to be a full time recruiting coordinator.

You can say what you want about decommitments, but this is not a good thing.

5* offensive lineman Harry Miller remains committed to the Bucks and will sign during the early signing period.

He will play there before he will in Columbus. He is very good but I am not sure he is Ohio St. good, probably would be a redshirt for sure.

Agreed that Nester should see early and meaningful playing time at VPI. OSU just seems to be a place where talented OL recruits are rarely developed. Hopefully that will change under Coach Day.

On a positive note, the Buckeyes did sign a four star OL from Hawaii: Enokk Vimahi.

I think I've seen and heard many times that OL are generally red shirted. Given a chance to make the 2 deep but if not they are red shirted.
