Post by Valenth »

Here's the rundown of Bowl Eligible teams by Conference...

AAC: 7
ACC: 11
B1G: 9
BIG XII: 7
CUSA: 7
MAC: 7
MWC: 7
PAC12: 7
SEC: 11
Sun Belt: 6
Independent: 3

Bowl Eligible Teams: 82
Bowl Games: 40..

Last year we had a handful of 5-7 teams make bowl games. This year we will see a couple Bowl Eligible teams get turned away.

It’s just dumb to have 82 of 120 teams able to play in a bowl game. Those lower bowls are boring and no one cares. We need an expanded playoff system.

I totally agree.

To Valenth's point of 82 teams being eligible for 40 games: This is a result of so many power 5 teams scheduling FCS schools. The wins arent counter balanced with a loss and therefore you have more teams eligible than the bowl system can handle.

Not only should there be expansion on the CFP but there needs to be drastic and immediate scheduling changes,

I say cut FBS to 64 teams. Develop regional conferences within those schools. Impose scheduling restrictions within that division where they can not play down. Then take top 16 into a playoff system. We all know some of those current FBS schools are pretending.
