NCAAF NEWS: Virginia Football Announces 2 Expected Graduate Transfers Will Not Play For Cavaliers

Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Colin McGovern and former Missouri quarterback Marvin Zanders were both set to enroll at Virginia as grad transfers. Now, neither will be a Cavalier.

The school announced that McGovern and Zanders will no longer be joining the program in a release moments ago.

"Virginia head football coach Bronco Mendenhall announced today (June 9) that two graduate transfers who originally announced their plans to enroll at the University this summer and compete this fall will not do so. Those individuals are offensive lineman Colin McGovern (New Lenox, Ill.) and quarterback Marvin Zanders" (Jacksonville, Fla.).

It is not immediately clear why the two are out at Virginia, or if they will look to play elsewhere. The loss of McGovern is especially tough, as he was a potential starter for the Hoos.

The release also states that Sonny Abramson, a former three-star quarterback out of New Jersey, will no longer play for the team, but will remain at Virginia as a student.

It also clarifies that the team’s other graduate transfers, offensive linemen John Montelus (Notre Dame) and Brandon Pertile (Oklahoma State) are still with the program and beginning class next week.

So... Basically they lost 2 QBs and a Lineman in One Day... that stinks....
