5-7 Teams fighting for the remaining Bowl spots.

Post by Valenth »

Heres the remaining 5-7 teams fighting for a spot in a Bowl Game.

Nebraska
Minnesota
Illinois
Kentucky
Mizzou
Buffalo
San Jose State
Old Dominion

*Kansas State (5-6) Plays WVU Saturday

WHO DO I THINK GETS THE BOWL SPOTS?

Out of these remaining teams, the First team I would EASILY give a Bowl game to is Nebraska... They beat Michigan State... But, Many games lost on the last play. The unluckiest team in CFB deserves a Lucky Break.

I would then Pick Minnesota, Kentucky, Kansas State and Illinois.

The reason why I pick Kentucky over Mizzou is... Mizzou lost to Kentucky in the regular season.

These bigger teams also will fill the stands better than teams like Buffalo, San Jose State and Old Dominion.

My gut feeling tells me the Bowls for these teams might fall like this.

Nebraska vs a 6-6 or 7-5 Team
Minnesota vs Kansas State
Illinois vs Kentucky

There are 41 bowl games, so that means 82 teams get into bowl games. There are currently 75 bowl eligible teams. If Kansas State wins this weekend, there will be 76. If that happens, there will still be 6 spots open, so they have to fill them! So you can guarantee that every team that is eligible will play in a bowl, plus 6, 5-7 teams. Texas is currently sitting at 4-7, if they win, I think they'll get a bowl game, but, they play Baylor, so that probably won't happen. Also, I just realized that Georgia State and South Alabama both have chances to get bowl eligible this weekend (GA State vs App. State; S. Bama vs GA S.). So I'm gonna say that there will be 5, 5-7 teams. The 5, 5-7 teams I think will get in are:

Nebraska
Minnesota
Illinois
Kentucky
Missouri

Theres 40 FBS Bowls... the Celebration Bowl is between NC A&T And a SWAC Team. So we have technically 40 Bowls.

So technically only 3, 5-7 teams need to get in.

Right, I was just referring to if those teams got to 6-6. There are 3 teams that have the opportunity to do that this week.

I'm of the opinion that priority should be given to the service academies before a 6&6 or a 5&7.

I like getting the service academies in there. Navy and Army play next weekend, I love watching that game, so much pride involved! Navy has already qualified at 9-2. Air Force has already qualified at 8-4. The only one that hasn't is Army, they are 2-9.

I did see that they are considering taking the 5-7 teams with the best academic grade reports over other teams if it comes down to 5-7 teams. Which is kind of interesting.

Market factors, market factors, market factors. Nebraska and Minnesota should definitely be good to get in on market factors alone.

SJSU, Buffalo, and Old Dominion do not have much of a market or really a college football fanbase.

Mizzou / Missouri has said they are not pursuing a bowl bid at 5-7.

K-State will definitely get one even at 5-7 because Bill Snyder is 76 years old and any network that'll cover whatever obscure bowl they'd play in will want to talk about him.

I think Kentucky gets one simply because their fanbase follows in Droves... Basketball or Football.

I think Texas has a possibility to get a bowl spot. They have a large following, they just beat Baylor today to move to 5-7. They beat Baylor and Oklahoma this year.
