Being a Defending Champion and only losing 1 game by 3 points to #5 Michigan State in a Rain/Windstorm... It possibly could.

I hope because if we get a shot and play like we did yesterday I think we win again. It would be awesome to get another shot at the spartys.

The thing is... Theres Absolutely no Automatic playoff bids in this. The committee could put Ohio State in over UNC because of a weak record. The PAC12 has less than a 10% chance to get in... No 2 loss team (Even a conference champion) would make it. Ohio State still has that chance.

I now think UNC could likely jump OSU into the playoff if they upset Clemson,They should be ranked 8 or 9 this week when the rankings come out and I heard tonight the playoff committee does favor conference champs unfortunately,UNC signature win over a top 4 team would trump OSU signature win over the number ten team and UNC overall SOS ranking(43) is close to OSU (35), and will be higher after they play Clemson,OSU would probably need Florida to beat Bama and that aint a happening so it looks like the Bucks are bowl bound.

Bill Hancock said in an interview earlier this year being a defending champ doesn't matter.

Bottom line:

USC needs to beat Stanford, Florida needs to beat Bama and UNC needs to beat Clemson.

I think it finishes:

1.) Clemson
2.) Bama
3.) Michigan St
4.) Oklahoma

5.) OSU
6.) ND
7.) Florida State
8.) Iowa

I would love to see something happen and OSU get in, but the conservative play calling Urban allowed to happen on both offense and defense against Michigan State will haunt us.

UNC is ranked 14th.... This committee will not jump UNC over #13 FSU after beating #12 Florida.... #9 Stanford beating #6 ND... UNC WILL NOT jump 6 Spots after beating NC State by 10... UNC has played ZERO Top 25 teams in the regular season and 2 of their regular season opponents are FCS Teams. On top of having lost to 3-9 South Carolina. That will weigh UNC Down. Cause at the end of the season they must look at the ENTIRE body of work. And Ohio States Strength of Schedule is WAY Stronger, EVEN IF UNC beats Clemson.

UNC will jump at least 5 spots with teams ahead of them losing.OSU has only beaten 1 team that still in the top 25 so they are not much better schedule wise and the ranking proves it.They also beat Illinois far worse than OSU did. Guess we will have to agree to disagree on that one Val ;)

I do think UNC will jump 3-4 Spots... but remember how many Top 25 opponents UNC faced in the regular season: Zero. Ohio State had: Two. How many FCS Teams did Ohio State face: Zero. How many did UNC face: Two.

Hope your right, but if committee looks at that current SOS ranking and the common opponent they are going to see the two teams are pretty close, FCS or not.

Not necessarily true. UNC and Ohio State had 2 Common Opponents this season. Virginia Tech and Illinois.

UNC Beat Illinois 48-14
Ohio State Beat Illinois 28-3

Ohio State Beat VT 42-24
UNC Beat VT 30-27 IN OT.

Another HUGE Factor for Ohio State: Northern Illinois.

If NIU Beats Bowling Green in the MAC Championship game. Ohio State will have beaten a Group of 5 MAC Champion. North Carolina does not have that.

Also...
UNC has 5 Teams on their regular Schedule under .500 PLUS 2 FCS Teams that dont count towards Resume.

Ohio State has 5 under .500 And all teams on their Schedule goes to Resume.

Them games prove my point on why they might think the two teams are close, one beats one worse than the other. Here's another thing to think about, by the time the committee votes the win over TTUN will be old news, while the UNC game wIll be fresh on their minds like it was OSU winning the BIG last year. The thing that really bothers me though is the committee favoring conference champs, they probably want to avoid having two teams from the same conference in the playoffs, which I don't agree with at all.The best teams should be in no matter what!

But the Eye Test for UNC and Clemson right now isnt pretty. Clemson escaped South Carolina and UNC went to OT with VT and Let NC State come back in their game.

This committee I believe will Drop Clemson to 3rd.. Maybe even 4th! (They dropped ND out of 4th to 6th for a close call vs BC) Maybe even 4th. Which would WEAKEN UNCs Resume if they win. I think this committee will jump UNC no higher than 10th.

Still will be a bigger, fresher win than OSU'S week old win over the number ten team who has been faltering over the last few games of the season.Who knows what they might think, our opinion don't mean nothing

Very true, lets hope things play out and in the End see Ohio State at 4th.
