Traveling to Morehead State, the Bobcats really got the bats playing long ball on Tuesday night, belting 6 home runs, but ultimately falling to Morehead in a 15-14 shootout. For the Bobcats, Michael Klein smashed two long balls while driving in 4 runs and Rudy Rott also played long ball two times and drove in 3 runs. Spencer Ibarra (2 RBI) and Connor Callerry (2 RBI) each added deep balls on the game as well.

Taking the loss on the mound for OU was Jake Roehn who went 1 inning while giving up 1 run in a relief effort, with that run being the walk-off run.

Next up is a 3 game weekend home series against Bowling Green beginning on Friday.

Chieftain, is there any local SE Ohio kids on the roster for the Bobcats and if so what High Schools were they from?

Do the Bobcats host a camp or showcase during the year?

There aren't many players playing for OU from Ohio period. I don't know if Newark is considered local to some people, but there is a freshman, Derek Carr from Licking Valley.

As far as camps, they host prospect camps in December and January.

That is interesting there are not a lot of Ohio players on the OU Roster.

Is that true for most schools in Ohio (Cincinnati, Xavier, Kent St., OSU, etc.) to not have many Ohio players?

Starting their series against Bowling Green in Athens last night, the Bobcats posted a 9-1 victory. Nearly half of the offense came off of a grand slam by Rudy Rott in the 4th inning, then he followed that up in the 6th inning with a 2 RBI double. The win on the mound went to starting pitcher Gerry Salisbury who went 7 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 7.

They will continue their series today at 3pm.

Kent State 3 Ohio 0 (Softball)
Kent State (32-26) accomplished the improbable, winning three games on Saturday, to capture its third MAC Tournament crown and first since 2008.

Sophomore Hunter Brancifort cleared the fence in left field to give the Flashes the lead in the bottom of the first 1-0. After a two-out walk drawn by junior Holly Speers, Ronnie Ladines launched her fourth home run of the tournament to make it a 3-0 game.

Senior Ronnie Ladines(19-14) also tossed a three-hitter to complete the sensational day for Kent State. Ladines has not has a great season as far as pitching goes, showed just how dominating she can be in this one. She struck out six and only walked one.

Junior Emily Dobbin made the defensive play of the tournament, skying at the wall in left field to take away a home run from Ohio's Morgan Geno to start the fourth inning.

Baily Brownfield(Lakewood Lancers) had a hit for the winners.

For the fourth time in their 5 games this season, the Bobcats downed Kent State, the top seed in the MAC tournament, and seems to be the kryptonite for the Golden Flashes. With that win, Kent State has been eliminated and the Bobcats will march on to the MAC Championship game with rest and a major advantage after their 7-2 victory.
