Ohio State Mens Basketball

What is going on with this program? Has Matta lost his touch? Can't recruit effectively anymore? Does anyone really care? Does their record really matter as long as tOSU football program thrives? 1960 seems like such a long time ago.

Matta has failed in recruiting and his health issues (botched back surgery) hasn't helped the cause. Not sure how long playing in the NIT will be acceptable.

I think he resigns at the seasons end.

This may be his last season, whether he resigns or is let go. Being mediocre has become the norm on the court.

His recruiting has never been great, and the lack the use of the bench during his stay with the Buckeyes shows.

He seemed pretty happy and confident in an interview last night. That would be shocking if they canned him after coming in with guns blazing when he first took over when he scored that big recruiting class with Oden and Conley. He been there a long time, but at a sports factory like that he has to be wondering himself.Bucks clinging to a 3 point lead at half,a win here would be a shot in the arm!

Just when one is ready to denounce the coach and team, they double cross you by winning a big game. Will it last? Just about do not care anymore about the BasketBucks.

Back to my original post, does BB matter at tOSU anymore? I remember hearing Fred Taylor having similar issues back when Woody was coaching. Just not the glaring intensity on Bucks BB like the football program. Hard to be top notch consistently in both sports. Just as blue chippers attracted to the football program would never consider Kentucky, the opposite is true for BB.

I lived through the Fred Taylor and Eldon Miller years, and aside from the 59-61 Jerry Lucas years, basketball is an after thought at Ohio State. The link shows coaching history through 2009. A few great years but nothing to brag about.

Michigan State is not nearly as good this year as years past. Don't get too excited about beating them in a close game at home.

True that, but after just getting annihilated by 23 points any win is a good win esp.against a team that has pretty much owned them.

Ridiculous BLOB to win it. Helped that Watson tripped, but still a great design there by Jent.

Really good win for the Buckeyes tonight, any win is at this point.
