The Buckeyes historic win streak of 42 straight, spanning 399 days came to an end tonight. The top-ranked Buckeyes were dominated 3-0 (26-28; 19-25; 20-25) in Columbus by #6 UC Irvine. Now that the Buckeyes got the loss out of the way, hopefully they get back to winning the rest of the season. OSU was the only undefeated team left in the country before tonight, and actually the only team with less than 2 losses.

Their next game is on Thursday when they travel to #10 Loyola. And travel to #5 Lewis on Saturday, both are conference matches.

Ohio State got back in the win column last night on the road as they faced off against MIVA rival and #10 Loyola in Chicago leaving with a 3-0 (25-20; 25-21; 25-15) sweep. After losing last week, the Buckeyes dropped to #2 in the rankings behind Long Beach State, even though they defeated them earlier in the season. OSU has another tough matchup on Saturday at #7 Lewis.

The Buckeyes dropped just their second match of the season last night, this time it was on the road at the hands of #13 Penn State, who got revenge after the Buckeyes earned a 3-0 sweep last time they played. It was a thriller going in favor of the Nittany Lions, 25-21; 14-25; 25-15; 22-25; 15-12. This was a non-conference game, as Ohio State and Penn State do not play in the same volleyball conference.

OSU will have two matches against MIVA foe McKendree in Columbus, as they begin to wrap up the season.

Nearing the end of the season, the Buckeyes earned a big MIVA win over McKendree in Columbus, 3-0 (25-17; 29-27; 25-18). This keeps OSU undefeated in conference play. Tomorrow the Buckeyes go up against McKendree again, if they win, they wrap up the MIVA regular season title.

Dominating the MIVA is no problem for the Buckeyes. After going undefeated in the regular season in conference play, the Buckeyes cruised their way through the conference tournament, and after tonight, defeating #14 Grand Canyon 3-0 (25-16; 25-22; 25-11), have claimed the MIVA Tournament title, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Their next match should be April 28 in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament, and they will wait to see who they play.

An interesting note, out of the 5 teams in the NCAA Tournament not including Ohio State, the Buckeyes played all of them except for BYU.

The Buckeyes quest to go back-to-back in men's volleyball is still alive at nationals, as the Buckeyes defeated #4 Hawaii on Thursday night 3-0 25-23; 25-18; 25-19) in dominating fashion to reach the National Championship match yet again. In the other semifinal, BYU upset #2 Long Beach State 3-0. So, for the second consecutive year, it will be Ohio State vs. BYU in the National title match.

The championship will be on Saturday at 7pm at St. John Arena.

Wasn't really even close. Not only was it back-to-back championships for OSU, but they swept BYU in the title match both years.
