Stanford's Christian McCaffery To Sit Out Sun Bowl

Post by Omega »

Stanford's versatile offensive player has decided to sit out the Sun Bowl in order to concentrate on preparations for the upcoming NFL draft. The old why risk injury when millions of dollars are at stake in the draft. A contributing factor may be that McCaffery may have a lingering injury from early in the season.

I saw this and I don't agree with his decision. If it is a lingering injury, I can understand that. But, if it is not a lingering injury, and I'm a GM of an NFL team I'm wondering if I want to pick him or not, because he's not willing to play for his team and trying to help them win.

The guy could have already heard from pro teams and they would rather have him not play. This will be a new things happening starting this year. Pro show interest in players every year and sit in front of the TV and see them carted or carried off the field in these bowl games.

That is just an inherent risk of playing the sport of football. The exact same thing could happen to them on the first snap of their NFL career.

Didn't hurt zeke
Wonder how nfl teams would feel about there players shutting it down in contract years when the team is eliminated from playoffs?

Zeke played most of his final season with a broken wrist. Ironically, Zeke has made recent remarks about these players giving up on their teams and not playing in the bowl games.

For Zeke it was also playing in a bigger Bowl than the Sun Bowl. Since he is not a senior and leaving early. It does give other players a chance to play. As well as prepare the team for next year. As someone on tv said about how many carries some players get over used in college. Like many of the RB's from Alabama who do not come close to that in the NFL.

Good point farmer, the Sun Bowl and a power 5 Bowl are completely different animals, but I can't imagine Meyer giving him the thumbs up to sit any game esp. a bowl game, looks like it will start being a trend and I don't like it.

Former bammer players don't get to carry in the NFL. Usually found over-rated in camp.

Just a quick stat:

2016
Derrick Henry 412 rushing yards 4 TD's
Zeke Elliott 1551 rushing yards 13 TD's

Speaking of those overrated Bammer players.......

Now you could read anything on here and have to laugh at the lack of inherant knowledge about football that some have!....But I would have never guessed that some person would make a comment that NFL athletes are a bunch of "puss's" as he claims  NFL guys are a lot of things at times but Puss"s?...  ....The Sun Bowl is potentially 1 of the best matchups out there. I wish Christian would play. But I understand the business decision he is making with the blessings of his father and I hope he has a productive NFL career. Same with LF...Shock Linwood is a different story

Bart Starr
Joe Willie Namath
The Snake Stabler.....Roll Tide

Art Schlicter
Troy Smith
Mike Tomzak....ohio luminaries

Jim Brown was asked how many yards he thought he would get behind that dominant Dallas O-Line...He said probably around 12-1400 yards. The reporter said"Is that all you would get ole#32"..The great JB said "Hell Brother I am 80 years old.I would probably have to sit out a game or 2."
