Kevin Wilson Fired at Indiana University

Post by Omega »

Despite somewhat of a resurgence in Indiana football and a recent contract extension, Kevin Wilson has been fired as Indiana head football coach. Rumors of mistreatment of players.

Old school Coach..Coaches them up and Coaches them hard. TOO hard...Has been going on for awhile, mainly because of his desire to move up another rung or 2....He has done a good job as far as on the field with what he has to work with. I know for a fact he is the 14s TOP Coach as far as the Xs and 0s go on the Offensive side of the ball, but has missed the Jimmys and the Joes....A couple things he has done on the practice field would never be condoned anywhere.

Yeah, I would imagine it had something to do with off the field (not during games) because he has somewhat turned around football at a basketball school in IU. He's done especially a good job with the limited talent he gets.

Actually he resigned, but was probably forced behind the scenes. Maybe Lee Corso can apply to get his old job back.

The look into the Coach has brought up some problem situations. That could be proven not just hear say or from a player upset at the coach for various reasons. Seems like a good guy but would get to fired up. Kind of like ND Coach Kelley going red faced to where he looked like he would blow. The out of control things that if a player did during a game would get him penalized or even thrown out. As well as the forcing players injured to play. I know in the past how it was done but they have more info now. Getting players to live with injuries the rest of their life is what the rules are suppose to protect them from. As best they can.

There is a lot to this story that we just won't hear about. As well as not effecting every player or a big percent of the time. But did go on.

To make such a big issue on player safety. Why do schools and the refs do not do something about players wearing shorts playing the game. A Knee pad is not a knee pad because it comes close to the knee. More than a hand full of players on some teams the knee is left uncovered. In the OSU vs UM game an OSU player had his mouth piece stuck on top of his helmet. OSU was forced to take a time out because equipment violation. Safety is great and should be enforced to protect players. Just like the offensive lineman wearing knee braces.
