This was ugly even for an AAF game. Salt Lake offense, if you care to go it that totaled 129 passing yards and 93 yards rushing, while San Diego threw for 148 yards and rushed for 54 yards. San Diego threw two picks, while Salt Lake threw one. Donny Hageman (San Diego State) missed a chip shot field goal by 15 or 20 feet, as he hooked it left. He also made a chip shot, for the only San Diego points.
Joel Bouagnon (Northern Illinois) had the only touch down of the game. He totaled 43 yards on 13 carries, for Salt Lake. Terron Ward had 46 yards on 17 carries, that gave the winners something of a double edge sword, when it came to running the ball.
Nelson Spruce (Colorado) led what offense San Diego had, with 6 catches good for 64 yards.
Travis Feeney (Washington) led the defense with 7 tackles.
