(CFL) Toronto 26 Ottawa 25

Post by LICKING COUNTY FAN »

Ottawa had a 12-1 lead at the half and with the way their defense had played, many had to think this game was all but over.
Toronto(2-1) though had other things in mind and when all was said and done Ottawa (0-2-1) was left wondering what had just happened?

With 8 minutes left in the first Trevor Harris (Waldo, Ohio/Edinboro)connected with, Mossis Madu Jr. (Oklahoma) for a six-yard score. Harris completed 30-43 on the night good for 370 yards, 2TD'S with 1 pick. Mossis rushed for 51 yards on 14 carries and caught 5 balls for a total of 36-yards and the one score. Madu would convert the two-point run to make this a 8-0 game.

This became a 11-0 game, when Brett Maher (Nebraska) connected on a 36-yard field goal, with 1:21 left in the quarter.

Each team scored single points in the second, so entering the half we had a 12-1 score.

In the second half the play that sticks out the most was a muffed snap, on what would have been the game tying point after kick, that caused Ottawa to stay behind by a point and eventually was a gigantic reason to why they lost.

With 10:07 left in the third Harris fumbled a snap and recovering it for a Toronto touchdown was, Cassius Vaughn(Mississippi). He would total just two tackles in the game, but left a huge mark on it with this play. A two point pass was incomplete causing this game to stay 12-7.

Rickey Ray(Sacramento State) connected with, S.J. Green (South Florida) for a 27-yard score, with 5:20 left in the third. A two point pass play again failed leaving this a 13-12 Toronto lead. Ray completed 27-41 passes,366 yards and 2 TD'S. Green had a monster game, 10 catches 210 yards and the one TD catch.

The next score came with 14:41 left in the contest. A 26-yard field goal by Lirim Hajrullahu (Western) made this a16-12 game.

With 11:41 left Ottawa would get a Ryan Lindley (San Diego State) the back up quarterback sneaked in from 1-yard out.Maher made it a 19-16 game with his point after kick.

With 9:20 left in the final frame Ray connected with former Ohio State Buckeye, DeVier Posey for a 10-yard score. Hajrullahu made it a 23-19 game with his kick. Posey had 7 catches, 62 yards and the one score.

At the 6:39 mark Hajrullahu made it a 26-19 game, with a 16-yard field goal.

The final score of the game was a Harris to Greg Ellingson (Florida International) 30-yard TD pass. The muff snap ended the hopes of the kick getting of and left this a 1- point game.Ellison had 10 catches good for 170-yards and the one score.

Victor Butler (Oregon State) led the Toronto defense with 8 tackles and 3 sacks.

For Ottawa their leading tackler was, Nicholas Taylor (Florida International)with eight.
