Oak Hill 14 - 27 Waverly

Post by smurray »

Waverly fresh off a big win at home against Minford travels to Oak Hill.
The Oaks sit at #8 in region 19 and will be fighting for a playoff birth.
Waverly enters this final regular season game already securing a playoff spot but will be fighting for the opportunity to host a first round playoff game.
There is much on the line and while Waverly may be favored heading into this one, they cannot take the Oaks lightly - look at Minford last week.

Shanks was helped off the field again last night so his status will be up in the air.
Shoemaker with a big 197 yard rushing night against Minford comes in to this one at 1,864, needing just 136 for 2,000.

Can the Tiger defense stop the Oaks rushing attack?

Waverly's speed way to much for the Oaks.

I am in awe of your treasure chest of football history.

That said, Tigers will be in for a war.

Get a lead and get shanks out. Strength of OH d is it’s line between the tackles.
Shoe left, shoe right, shanks over the top

Waverly big
42-0

Waverly has a home game at stake. I think they roll and oak hill falls out of the top 8

I agree, way to much speed. Shoemaker will go for more than 200 yds, or just how much he wants. No where near one of OH's better teams. They beat 4 teams they should have been able to beat, Rock Hill, Northwest, Valley, and Portsmouth West. I still haven't figured out the Minford game, and I'm not the only one.

My apologies. Didn’t see the first thread before I made this one. Like you posted on the other, is there a way to combine the 2 threads? Or should I delete this one?

I think some people are missing the boat on this game.

Not only did Oak Hill beat Minford, Valley and Portsmouth West; they beat all three of those teams on the road. They never gave up more than 16 points in any of those games. They've also won three out of their last four games and clearly have momentum.

If that's not enough, for all practical purposes this is a playoff game for Oak Hill. If they win they're in, if they loose they're staying home. And of course senior night. Going to be one fired up Oak Hill team, you can count on that.

This game makes me nervous. Waverly was ready to play against Minford last Friday. Going to take the same effort and desire. Go Tigers!!

100% agree with this ^^^ Tigers need to bring their "A" game. This is a playoff game for the Oaks.

Toast I appreciate your enthusiasm. I would never have bet oak hill to beat Minford but in hindsight they matched up very well with them. I don’t think the oaks match up so well with waverly. If they can sustain drives and keep the ball away from the waverly offense. Maybe get to shanks early and knock him out of the game they got a fighting chance. But waverly speed will be a big problem
