Portsmouth played a really hard Gallia team. They played hard I expect them to come out fired up Friday. Taking Portsmouth by 2 scores.

I think I would take the Trojans as they have a lot more offensive weapons than the Hornets. Even though CG is down a little, they will still show up and give it everything that they have.

Last years meeting was a barn burner with Coal Grove winning 36-34.

I didn’t realize Portsmouth has not beat coal grove. Not sure before 2000.

In 2017 the Trojans allowed Goal Grove's top receiver to get open multiple times resulting in 2 deep scores. He was a great deal of their offense that night and had an outstanding game. Each of those instances the Trojans failed to cover him with their top CB. I would have liked to have seen D Jordan cover him each and every play that night. Coal Grove picked up on the mismatch and took advantage. Probably cost the Trojans a potential playoff spot as well with the loss..

Well, the Mighty Hornets join Upper Arlington and Newark as the 3 teams we have played more than twice and never defeated in our 100+ year history.

I believe you are correct. I’m digging around and can’t find anything. I would of thought being 25 miles apart they would of played at some point thru the years.

Portsmouth just started playing local teams in the 2000’s and before that, Ironton, West and Waverly was on the schedule a lot. Trojans traveled 2 hrs plus or teams came to Spartan.

Should be a very good game. Portsmouth has the best back in Southern Ohio. Coal Grove has one of the most underrated backs in Southern Ohio. Hope to see a hornets win here!

No reason Portsmouth shouldn’t win this game by at least 2 touchdowns.

Good luck PHS!
