Will South Gallia ever leave the TVC Hocking?

Post by 100% Tomcat »

Wahama has left now, it’s time for the Rebels to exit stage left. That drive is ridiculous and even worse when you have to do it on a school night.

The only conference they could go to and be somewhat competitive would be the SOC1. There is nowhere else to go unless they would just be unaffiliated and play the smallest schools you can find in SEO, WV and KY that would be closer than the TVC.

Has there been talk about them possibly leaving the TVC Hocking? The SOC-1 would probably be a fair fit for them, even though the drive for some of the schools wouldn't be great either.

There was once talk of them joining the SOC but was not voted in. It was a package deal of them and someone else. If done alone I think they would have had a good chance.

Why would they? They might not compete too well in football and basketball, but more than hold their own in xc, wrestling, track and some of the other sports. Drive time isn't too bad, considering some of the other places we go.

Thank you! The more I thought about it, the more that I think that most years, they would probably be able to hold there own in most of the sports.

Since South Gallia was formed they have tried 9 times to get into the SOC I and been voted down each time. The first few times SG tried to get into the TVC was also turned down. SG played as independent until joining the TVC Hocking in 2010. The TVC has been good for SG but to some SG has not been good for the TVC. The 9 team Hocking was a playoff creating machine but apparently some did not like that. Possibly the only option would be to take Eastern and Southern with them and form a 6 team conference with; Wahama, Buffalo, and Hannan but this is never going to happen. So yes the only option for SG is the TVC Hocking.

There are rumblings of a TVC shakeup. My sources have indicated a desire on the part of some schools to get the TVC back down to one division that is better balanced and better geographically arranged. Here is a snapshot of what it may look like:

Wellston
Nelsonville
Trimble
Belpre
Meigs
Alexander
Vinton County
River Valley or Federal Hocking although I dont see Fed wanting any part of this.

Dont know what this means for some teams other than they may want to be developing a contingency plan. Southern Eastern SG Waterford Athens may be on the outside looking in soon. Doubtful these schools could keep the name TVC but I dont see this stopping them from doing something. Personally I think it looks like a great league. Hope it happens.

With Eastern Pike moving up to the SOC 2, and Ironton St. Joe joining the SOC 1, there is a 9-8 imbalance between the SOC 2 and SOC 1. Looking at it like that there does seem to be an opening. Perhaps now is the time for South Gallia to re-apply in hopes of making the leagues an even 9 and 9.

Honestly, why would SG apply to the SOC I again, so they could be turned down a 10th time?

Why would SG want to go to a league without wrestling?

On the other hand they could be conference champs every year.

Why don't you stop whining? The other schools have to make the drive once a season. SG does it for half of their games. Boo hoo.
