Could’ve played Wellston but wouldn’t do it. And now you have no game and Wellston travels to Lakewood(Hebron).

Yes. Wellston tried multiple times. And East never responded.

Stinks for East but doubtful they a playoff team anyways. As for playing Wellston, is getting beat 50-0 and increased chance of losing players to injury worth it if you're likely not going to the playoffs anyways? Look at Notre Dame driving 4 hours last week due to a cancellation only to get beat 41-0.

Small schools are in a dilemma: schedule smaller schools/club teams they can compete with, but worry about last minute cancellations from teams without numbers to play. Or schedule bigger schools to have a full schedule only to get boat-raced and beat up physically. 9 game schedule the better alternative for a lot of these schools imo*

The game Friday wasn't cancelled until Monday, unless Wellston tried when Western dropped football for the season.

Exactly. I dont blame them for not scheduling wellston. They are down this year. They want to compete for their program like anyone else. But the smaller schools are a risk. And they also had western on their schedule, I believe. Have they filled that drop yet?

Friday's game was supposed to be the replacement for Western.

It's not just the small schools who have trouble finding ganes. Burg is not as small as east and all of them but I remember in 2009 we needed a game and ended up picking up for one yr cleveland vasj. They drove 5 hours down here only to lose 45-21
