Meet the best QB in the TVC-Ohio: Joey Moore

Post by moorelukas »

Lukas Moore --

Smooth. It's the perfect word to describe Joey Moore's game. His look too, the Junior looked the part of "star quarterback" in warmups at Waverly. He walked around the field with confidence, and the Bulldog uniform fit him like a dream. He even has an arm sleeve that makes him look like a Madden created player.

The new Athens quarterback set off some fireworks, and had some rookie mistakes in his debut. Athens lost to playoff-caliber Waverly, 30-27, in a game the Bulldogs will look back on as one that got away. Moore was 24/38 (63%) for 278 yards with three touchdowns through the air. He also added 60 yards on the ground on 26 attempts, a mixture of designed runs and scrambles.

The ball zipped out of Moore's hand with unexpected strength, even on a wet field. His accuracy on short and intermediate passes was excellent.

He threw 38 times and rushed 26?

Geesh, hope he can stay healthy. That’s a ton of hits.

The offensive debuts were good for all 4 QB's but the Athens defense gave up an average of 42.5 a game in those 4 games. It's tough for any QB to win games without any defensive support against non TVC teams.

He probably had well over 100 yards rushing but Waverly brought the house on every play. A lot of sacks and bad snaps. Very tough kid. Should be fun watching him vs a very good Jackson defense. I thought that was Burrow’s first big game. No one would catch the ball so Burrow ran it every play in the second half

That’s just so many hits and potential hits on a kid. He’s gotta be sore. We’ll bring it a lot too. 30 hits a game will bring on nagging injuries.....though when I read those stats I thought of the Western Brown QB we faced last year and threw up a little.

Yeah 64 plays carried out by one player in high school is way to much, some teams don't run that in a game. Did anyone else touch the ball besides WRs? Good thing he's in the TVC if those numbers keep up.
