Week 1: Gallia Academy @ Meigs

Post by MisterGalliaGuy2016 »

Meigs has a new HC and a top 3 QB in the area, and he's only a Soph.

GA looks to build on their 9-1 campaign from last season.

My pick GA 37 Meigs 20

I don’t know if Meigs can put up 20 against GA’s defense. I would say that this game ends up more like a 35-12 type of game.

Meigs seems to be a good enough team to see where Gallia will be going.

I think this will be one of the tougher game Gallia plays. I think you see the growing pains in this game. Think this game may be like 21-20. If the blue devils put up 35 in this game. I will be giddy if they can get off to that kind of start they are going to average 50 or more.

Meigs will test this defense and with the young offense making a few mistakes this will be close. I hope I am wrong. And they blow Meigs out.

But young team opening on road I think it is close.

I mean Meigs put up 34 on the Devils last year when Cleland was making his first Varsity start as a Freshman.

Didn’t Gallia lose a bunch from last year?

Locos, Meigs also lost most of their speedsters. Cleland is a star, but he won't be able to do it on his own.

GA returns a lot of skill players and most of their linemen. New QB, new LB corps.

I can promise you Acree does not run a sub 4.6 maybe sub 4.8, he’s no where close to Armstrong’s speed & he ran a 4.5

Meigs did lose Ty Bartrum to moving, which has always been Cleland's favorite target, and an excellent receiver, but the offense will adjust. They are very athletic. As for Mr. Lundy, he is a bull for sure, but he has had a history of injuries and honestly got gassed too fast the last couple of years to have a bunch of carries. You ever think maybe that's why he hasn't gotten tons of carries the last couple of years? Should be a good game honestly, but the Blue Devils have to still be considered the favorites.

Good luck to both teams in this Week 1 match-up.

I lean toward Gallipolis, but Cleland is the real deal at Meigs. The question will be who steps up around him!
