Yesterday afternoon the 74th annual North Vs. South all star classic game took place, this one was between the division 4-7 teams.
When all was said and done the North took the win by two points. Together the teams scored a total of 52 points, ran unofficially 136 plays and threw 47 passes.
The North got things going through the air when A Cincinnati Bearcat recruit, Tre Tucker made a catch for a sixteen yard gain. Then it was a sweet jumping catch by Buffalo recruit Tyler Stevens, that picked up thirty eight yards. The drive ended on an incomplete fourth down pass.

The North offense lit the scoreboard up on a fifty six yard catch by Tucker. The point after kick was successful of the foot of Daniel Dietrich, to give the North a 7-0 lead, with 5:46 left in the opening quarter. None of the crowd knew at the time, but the promising North's passing game would struggle the rest of the contest.

The South team would respond with a quick four play drive, that was set up by a fifty one yard catch by a Bowling Green recruit, Twon Hines. Hines looked as good as anyone on the field and I would dare to guess that he made his former teammates from Dayton Northridge proud. With 4:30 left in the quarter, Brady Blattner an Ohio Dominican recruit plowed in from a yard out. The point after attempt was blocked by Travis Maag. The special teams unit from The North would save its biggest play, much later in the game.

The first quarter ended with the score staying 7-6, but before the final gun Hines would make another nice catch, for a twelve yard gain, on a nicely thrown ball from Davis Black, who is taking his talents to the University Of Charleston.

Just nineteen seconds into the second quarter, Ivan Perry Jr. another Ohio Dominican recruit picked up close to thirty yards, on a exciting punt return, that gave his offense the ball first and ten, on the South's twelve yard line. The drive ended when Zach Stouffer A Buffalo recruit recovered a fumble in the end zone, for a North touchdown. The point after kick was blocked by Kwadre Williams, according to the PA Announcer, to keep the score 13-6.

Caden Calhoun yet another Ohio Dominican recruit was crushed by Blaine Spiers (Bowling Green) for a short loss, with 9:52 left in the half. Fifty seconds later Dawan Martin (Bowling Green) sacked Joel Lambiotte (Marshall). The North's defense would get the ball back to its offense a short time later.

In the last 7:51 of the half both teams would score one touchdown apiece.
The North would hit pay dirt when, Logan Domer (Marietta) connected with Joey Torok (John Carroll) from thirty three yards out. The point after kick off of the foot of Daniel Dietrich, to put the North up 20-6.

The South would respond with a fourteen yard pass from Lambiotte to Hines. The point after kick by Jalen Miller(Morehead State) was good to make this a 20-13 game, with 3.38 showing on the clock. The South's defense got two nice plays before the half ended. First, Kaden Davis (Otterbein) and Sean Perry ( Bowling Green) teamed up to crush Tre Tucker. Then North would try a fake punt, but the ball carrier Dietrich was blasted by Boone Jones (Marietta) short of the first down marker.

Bryce Barasch took the second half kickoff to the North's forty four yard line, setting up the South's offense very nicely.
The South would take nine plays to lock this game up at twenty. The score came on a Blattner and the point after was good off of the foot of Jalen Miller ((Morehead State).

Chase Chicwak (Ohio Dominican) would recover the onside kick, to give the South the ball right back, with 7:51 left in the third quarter. The North's defense stood tall and held the South's offense with little trouble. When the North got the ball back, they struggled too, and they again went to the bag of tricks, another fake punt that was again stopped, because of a pass break up by Boone Jones.

The third quarter had one more big play by the South and that was a Black to Hines all the way down to the North's fifteen yard line. The South would have to settle for a twenty one yard field goal off of the foot of Miller, to give the South a 23-20 lead, with 10:43 left in the contest.

The North would get a fifty four yard run from Brandon Coleman (Kent State) all the way down to the South's one yard line, with 10:30 left in the game. Geivonni Washington (Ashland) would take it in from there. The point after kick from Dietrich would make this a 27-23 game, with 9:33 left.

In the last 1:48 the game would have as much excitement as one could get in that much time. First Andrew Bench (Bowling Green) would pick off a Lambiotte pass. The North would take a safety on purpose to bring the South within two, at 27-25. The South would then take the free kick and work their way into field goal range. The kick from Miller was blocked by someone on the line and roll around before a South player picked it up and took off down field only to be pushed out of bounds ending the game.

I appreciate the detail in your update. Our local newspaper reported that Boone Jones will be going to Muskingum. Your source says Marietta? I wonder which one is correct.
