Yep. Joining the LKC (Little Kanawha Conference) in WV beginning in 2020-2021 school year. Informed the TVC at the recent conference meeting.

Does that league have two parts to that league? Some schools would be over 3 hours away.

Wahama was in the LKC once before,
Got out after only 2 years cause of travel concerns

The LKC goes from
Spencer WV (Roane County) at least 2 hours from Mason
Clay County at least 2.5 hours from Mason
Sutton (Braxton County) at least 3 hours from Mason
Glade Springs (Webster County at least 3 hours from Mason
West Union (Doddridge County) 2.5 hours from Mason
Ellenboro (Ritchie County) 2 hours from Mason
Glenville (Gilmer County) 2.5 hours from Mason
Mt Zion (Calhoun County) 2 hours from Mason
Sisterville-Kidwell (Tyler County) 2.5 hours from Mason
St Marys (St Marys) 2 hours from Mason
Williamstown (Williamstown) 1.45 hours from Mason
Parkersburg (Parkersburg Catholic) 1.30 from Mason
Elizbeth (Wirt County) 1.30 hours from Mason
Ravenswood (Ravenswood) 45 minutes from Mason

From a quick google search, there is 2 divisions and 4 pods total when they expanded to 15 back in 2013. Adding Wahama should make 16 members.

LKC 2013-2014 DIVISION AND POD ALIGNMENTS
EAST DIVISION
Pod 1
Braxton County
Doddridge County
Gilmer County
South Harrison
Pod 2
Webster County
Calhoun County
Roane County
Clay County

WEST DIVISION
Pod 1
Wirt County
Parkersburg Catholic
Ravenswood
(Likely Wahama)
Pod 2
Ritchie County
Williamstown
St. Marys
Tyler Consolidated

All pod members and Williamstown are 65 minutes or less. St. Mary’s and Ritchie Co. are 80 minutes and Tyler is an hour and 45 minutes. It looks like teams in the LKC play their division members double round robin and treat games against the opposite division as non-conference for all sports except football; much like SOC and TVC.
It appears there’s no organized conference scheduling in football and teams just schedule each other as independents, but all west division members are in the same class as Wahama so hopefully a conference schedule develops with the addition of Wahama.
Wahama’s travel would increase from an average of 46.5 minutes in the TVC to 69 minutes in the LKC, but I would expect them to try to schedule TVC members non-conference along with Buffalo and Hannan.

This seems pretty stupid for Wahama. I guess good for the Hocking to get back to an even number

Now the question is does the Hocking look to add Fort Frye to go back to 9, focus on adding an 8th team for the Ohio (I can see Fort Frye, Oak Hill, and Gallia Academy as good candidates), or both.

Be nice to add those schools along with Warren. Fort Frye and NY to the Hocking. Gallia, Warren, and Oak Hill to the Ohio

I hope Wahama knows what they are doing because if they wind up regretting this move, they won’t be voted back into the TVC. Ask warren.

I think this will be great for the Hocking though. Evening up the division will mean no late non conference games to schedule. Ultimately it hurts the Ohio Division even more though. In recent years VC scheduled Fed Hock week 7, RV currently plays South gallia week 10. This just puts more pressure on the TVC to bring the Ohio Division up to 8 teams or else force teams with late non conference weeks to either travel extremely far or on only have a 9 game season.

Where are you Oak Hill? We need you!!!

South Harrison left the LKC after the 2017-18 school year

Those pods are only used for Baseball and Softball for scheduling, play everyone in your pod twice, rest of division once
Top 2 in each division play a tournament for the Championship

Boys and Girls Basketball are East West Divisions play your division twice
East 1 vs West 1 at Glenville State for the LKC Championship

Volleyball are East West same as Basketball top 2 in each division play for the title

Football Championship is highest rated LKC Single A in WVSSAC Playoff Ratings after week 11
Same for AA Football Championship Highest rated in AA LKC WVSSAC Playoff ratings after week 11

Track has a LKC All Teams Championship meet
Cross Country has a All Teams Championship meet
Wresting has a all teams Championship Tournament
Tennis has a All Teams Championship Tournament
Golf has a All Teams Championship Tournament

Nothing to settle a Soccer Champion

West
Tyler (A)
St Marys (A)
Parkersburg Catholic (A)
Williamstown (A)
Wirt (A)
Ritchie (A)
Ravenswood (A)

East
Doddridge (A)
Roane (AA)
Calhoun (A)
Gilmer (A)
Webster (A)
Clay (AA)
Braxton (AA)

You will never see the LKC make everyone schedule all other same Class A or AA in Football
tried it once before and everyone complained about having to play Williamstown
plus
Williamstown wasn't helping their self having to schedule
Calhoun
Gilmer

Fort Frye is looking for a new conference. Add them to the Ohio and both divisions will be at even numbers.

NY isn’t going to the Hocking. Not in football anyways, there’s no need to. Other sports, that’s a different story. Adding one team would solve all the issues

Of course, the primary impact of this is no more having eight league games.

Warren would be a great addition to the Ohio Division.

Warren vs Vinton would be the biggest game in basketball every year for the area. Game would be sold out before the end of the freshmen game

VC was way down and that game was still close. Warren pulled away at the end. You forget VC has two regional appearances recently?

Be the best league in the area. Could you imagine having Warren, Athens, VC, Meigs, and Alexander playing each other?
