I think this is a solid hire for old VC. I think Bethel is a quality coach and a proven winner. However, I think he has an uphill battle as VC has become a basketball school. It is not a coincidence that VC has been very good in basketball for several years now with a basketball minded administration. Time will tell if the administration is willing to be supportive enough for VC to return to having both a successful football and basketball program.

He certainly seems to have the support of the community.

Where all has Bethel coached?

I would be interested in hearing where he earned the title "proven winner." Has he been a head coach before?

I think they’re referring to Bethel as a proven winner in life. He was a player on the last TVC Ohio championship team in VC. Went on to play 4 years in college and received a great education. He spent time coaching as an assistant at the college level. He returned home a few years ago and started a family. At least that’s how I took the comment. Hopefully he can be a proven winner on the sidelines this fall.
