Piketon Football 19

Post by eagles73Taylor »

Big changes to Piketon facilities for next season. Turf being installed before opening home game at the current soccer/track facility, making it for both football and soccer. New visitors bleachers being installed. Plans for a new fieldhouse/indoor practice facility next to new stadium in the very near future, not sure if complete before end of next season, but should be by at least next season. Improvements to baseball/softball facilities. Baseball currently upgraded dugouts and improvements to field. Plans for small auxiliary gym off of main gym for PE use, so Main gym can be used only for athletic events. New auditorium off of East side of school. Maybe some more, but these are what we are hearing now. Of course, these aren’t set in stone, but they definitely are major changes coming.

As for next seasons team, lots of question marks, but these upgrades hopefully will draw kids back out and have Piketon competing soon! Go Streaks!

Sounds like a copy of what Northwest is currently doing on their campus.

Where is the teacher from Piketon (can’t remember username) on here that’s always bashing Waverly for putting money into their facilities?

But that is great news to hear about all these upgrades! Hopefully the Waverly vs Piketon rivalry can come back in football eventually.

Waverly gets money every year for those purposes - and they are making more upgrades as well.

Hadn't heard the turf deal, when you say making it for both football and soccer are you saying they're moving the football field from the gas field by the old school to the soccer field and making it all in one field?? Just curious because I know they spent the money to try and put new grass down on the field this past season. thanks, I had heard some of those upgrades but didn't know there was all of that.

Sounds like it’s going to be by the new school. Should be a really nice setup as the home bleachers are larger and newer than the current field and installing visitor bleachers will finish it off. Looking forward to seeing the finished product at Piketon. Should definitely be something the Village can be proud of!

The old grass field by the old high school will no longer be in use. They are moving the new visitors bleachers at the old grass field to the current soccer/track complex located on the southwest corner of the school. Installing turf so that football and soccer can be played at the current soccer field.

well that's awesome then, since the old field will still be there, do they plan on tearing things out in that area, or are they going to utilize the field for play also?? I know Jackson still has pee wee and junior high play on their old grass high school field there in town.

I hope they use the field for strictly high school football and high school and junior high soccer. Maybe allow the junior high football and pee wee football to play one game each on the turf. That way it'll be something to look forward to as they get older.

That’s pretty much how VC uses the fields in McArthur. Our new High School field still looks as good as the day it opened back in 2000. It’s nice to have two fields to utalize.

Piketon has had the worst facilities in the area for quite some time. This is great news for Kids, community and all involved. Hope all goes well with the construction.
